An event so important in our lives! :dopey: A new bull is born from one of our favourite Lambourghini breeds, the Gallardo. Here it is, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 SuperLeggera. If you know about Lamborghini cars the name must have caused you to run to the bathroom right now, if you don't let me explain what the name means so you run to the bathroom right now. A 570HP engine in the rear (Mid-rear) end that channels powers trough all four wheels, it's lighter than the "standard" Gallardo, has a big Murcielago-SV-Ish rear wing, and as always some "Superleggera" graphics. Oh, and it's green!!!!!!

I can't wait for a 458 Italia vs. LP570-4 SL comparison, GO SAN'T AGATA BOLOGNESE!!!

Win.

Sometimes wringing your model line for every single thing it's worth isn't a bad idea after all. 👍

It's Lamborghini we're talking about here ;). They could launch a gazillion Gallardos and I'd hang posters of all of them in my bedroom.

Hmm, something about it looks kinda odd. Might just be the perspective, but the huge front splitter vs the small rear spoiler looks wierdish. A beefier rear wing (Murci SV-style) would've looked better imho. Just nitpicking though, still looks fantastic.

An already fabulous car made better... except for the rather weedy looking rear wing... if you're going to fit a rear wing make it a decent one a la GT3RS.

Love the colour, but lose the graphics please!

It was known in the past that a new Superleggera was coming, despite Lamborghini not confirming it.

The real treat will be to see just how well it does on track. The standard car already runs with the 430S & ACR, though the 458 might just pose the biggest threat.

So making it look better in fit is better than what the factory (& tuners) have already found to be more aero for the car? And don't criticize the graphics if you're going to bring up the RS being the basis for how the Gallardo should implement the spoiler.

gt3rs=rear engine rwd. gallardo = mid engine/awd. The wing doesn't need to be significant.

Well, I'd take it over a certain other car it shares it's platform with...

Just think the wing could look better... if it's needed, it's needed... just make it look a little more meaningful.

And the graphics on the gen 2 GT3RS are dreadful... I'd be ticking the delete option on mine ;)

I've seen the news spawning over many sites, and one of them speaks of an optional bigger spoiler for those of you who were thinking this one was too small ;).

En la parte trasera vemos un nuevo alerón, de tamaño moderado, pero tiene como opción uno de mayor tamaño y que mejora aún más su aerodinámica. (In the rear end we can see a new wing, of moderate size, but there's the option of a bigger one that imporves even more the car's aerodynamics).

Can we please have an audio track please? If this sounds half as good as the Murcie SV then we are all going to need to change pants.

Damn, that thing looks wicked

My neighbor just picked up a 08 Superleggera a month or two ago, which I get to drool over quite a bit  I'll have to ask him why he didn't wait for the new one though :dopey:

Hmmm, yup. Off to puke. Needs less souped-up AWD Audi. Needs more RWD Lamborghini.

A very nice Audi though. Looks awesome, probably goes like stink. Does it come in orange?

But call me behind the times or whatever, but growing up around the Diablo and Countach, I feel like Lamborghini should represent the most extreme of supercars, not something trying to take on Ferrari and selling to people who don't care about cars. I feel like they should at least offer the cars as a manual with rear wheel drive. Speed schmeed.

Except that AWD was born within Lamborghini's Chrysler days, and only used Audi-tech to update it....

Even though that's why Lamborghini was born....

Manual is available by order until the new model is released & rear-wheel drive was done through the VB model. All of this due to the company trying to be more cost-effective (like Ferrari has been doing).

And btw, this car is actually lighter than the Balboni at 2954lb. w/ the VB at 3000lb.

I've seen peeks of this for a while but never wanted to speculate on what could've been another lame photoshop job. Great to hear it was real after all 👍

Why bother with making new cars when you can just take an existing car, tweak it slightly and throw a bigger price tag on it? I'm bored with all the editions from Italian supercar manufactures, it's like the Mustang and Elise for god sakes.

You don't get new models because the economics don't work.

Lambourghini volumes are tiny, and the cost of engineering a new model is massive - on top of the basic design and tooling costs, there's the cost of type approval and crash testing (etc) for almost every country in the World. When you only make a few 1000 of a particular model each year you don't have the critical mass to support short model life cycles.

Even with the backing of a massive manufacturer like VW and all the associated cost savings that go along with that, Lambourghini still won't be able to churn out completely new models every few years and subsequently lose billions of Euros.

I understand that, but I still find all these models to be a bit excessive.

I know you're not just deciding to find a possible gripe with this now?

Don't get me wrong, I love the Gallardo. If I was going to spend a stupid amount of money on a car the Gallardo is on the top of a short list. I just find it bit unnecessary to keep pumping out "special editions", Lotus does it to the extreme with the Elise model and Ford with the Mustang's.

I sort of know what you mean... for Lambourghini to call this a new model is a bit of an exageration for sure :)

But honestly, what's not to like about it? The base car is widely acknowledged to be a great car and this one has less weight and more power whilst retaining all the benefits of these improvements coming from the manufacturer itself... unless you dislike the base car, surely other than a few aesthetic details (which are always a matter of personal taste) it has to be a winner?

Like I said, I really like the Gallardo, a LP 560-4 Spyder would pretty much be my perfect exotic car (well maybe a Morgan Aero). I'm not a fan of the Murciélago as I find it to "Yo Dawg"-ish but the Gallardo is pretty much everything I would look for in an expensive sports car.

All manufactures do it, it's just that no one is arsed about the latest Fiat Punto Luce Del Sole Edition ;)

At least the SL is a significant performance improvement over the base model, I love Lotus but many of their Elise variations have been shameless marketing sell outs...apart from the JPS :sly:

Pagani are the kings of the special edition. The latest Zonda Tricolore is a one off and apparently the factory refers to their cars by chassis number rather than model type as they are all so different.

Right, but the Diablo was still available in a RWD manual. And it was the last car that really seemed Lamborghini all the way through. Their newer cars have seemed quite a bit more Audi-ish. Granted, I've never driven them, so I wouldn't know. But I feel like the insaneness of older Lambos is captured much more effectively in something like the Zonda than what they have now.

But I guess the point is moot because I'm more concerned with the flagship cars and the Gallardo isn't one.

With the 2nd generation, Lamborghini knows they can't keep pumping out a Momo or Nera Edition car, so they've cut back on that. Valentino's car was done for his retirement & a Superleggera has been in high demand from the owners. I wouldn't expect much else as the Gallardo is 7 years old & should be getting ready to move on after the Murcie's successor is out.

Insane-ness is there in the SV. That particular model is nearly sold out & everyone in the US has been spoken for. That car will be like the SE30, a highly sought-after car by enthusiasts.

But, the AWD itself remains. The performance of the cars owes much thanks to the VT system, & Lamborghini themselves make sure the cars are around 80% rear-biased, so they do drive like a rear wheel drive should under the right circumstances.

I don't know if it's possible for me to love the Gallardo even more, but after seeing this, I do.
I should start saving now.
