Not sure if this is the correct place to post this but I just wanted to show a pic of something i just noticed on the interior of my chrome 300SL. The dashboard that has taken on the chrome paint is displaying the road texture it's traveling over.

All reflecting surfaces in interiors of any car that has them actually reflects road/surroundings and not the interior.

So it not just a *bug* related to CHRL300SL, it happens to all cars.

Its the same with the driver's helmet as well.

Like they just said, anything reflecting inside the car does this. Most games including shooters have this issue. Look at water puddles in shooter games and they reflect buildings and sky, even if you are inside of a building. Crysis, Crysis 2, Homefront, Gears of War 1,2,3, MANY games have this reflecting issue.

It is no bug. Represent reflections in three-dimensional environments requires raytracing techniques that are very costly in terms of processing and can not currently be used in real time in moderately complex environments.

To approximate the reflections used reflection mapping consisting of project a flat image over the reflective objects. This means that reflections can not be updatable, is the reason why you can not see cars reflected in the body of rivals when to pass them or cases like you comment.

I guess it's just a lot more noticeable when the whole dash area is one piece of chrome.
Now - when are they going to give us a chrome racing suit and helmet?
That would have made an awesome GT5 prize!

But surely, in that photo, the chrome dashboard should reflect the car's interior, not the road... my knowledge of physics isn't on par with Hawkins, but even I can see something isn't right in that photo... so it's technically a "bug" because it isn't working properly (as the OP has stated).

It is a bug, but short of turning off reflections for chrome paints entirely for that car there isn't much PD can do about it.
