Hey guys, with the upcoming release of Merc 2 i was just curious to know if any of my fellow GTP members ever played the original and are planning to get the sequel. The first was an awesome game, everything blew up, and the amount of vehicles and weapons were oustanding! Nothing even comes close to dropping a laser guided bomb into a group of unsuspecting enemy soldiers.

Online mode is going to be a co-op affair of death in which both players can participate in absolute chaos! i cannot wait for this game and i know it will be excellent! i am mostly looking forward to the online portion so anyone feel free to add me up ;)
 
I'm hoping Mercenaries too is more polished then the predecessor. However much fun I had with the original. I could never shake the feeling that it seemed like a bit of a cheap, war-themed GTA spin-off. However, some of the features were well thought up, but the execution was lacking.
 
SOOOOOOOOOOOO looking forward to this game! Picking it up on Sunday. Add me if anyone wants to do some instant multiplayer destruction!
 
The commercial for it is the most poorly done, annoying ad i've probably ever seen. It looks like a cut-scene from Tekken 3.

I'll see you guys online too! I loved Mercs on the PS2. I keep getting that "Oh no you didn't!" jingle stuck in my head when I see the TV commercials. It looks very promising if the pervious Mercs installment is any indicator! How dare you say that commercial was poorly done, I think I'll Itunes the jingle...
 
yeah I rented it this weekend and I'm going to buy it first chance I get. graphics aren't anything special and it's a little glitchy but it's good simple fun to just let loose on a city block to see how much damage you can cause, the missions are a blast as well.
 
i love this game...the graphics are decent, but like the previous poster mentioned it's just fun as hell!! feel free to add me up to cause some true mayhem :):)
 
The demo is great fun, I've decided to go and rent it if I like enough I'll happily be trading Stuntman Ignition and Assassins Creed in for this. Love the idea of the game, although I never really played the first one much. Remind me a lot of what Battlefield Bad Company could have been...
 
it is alot of fun! i've been playing it since it came out and co-op has no equal. Dropping your mate on an oil rig and have him place a Bomb beacon on an oil rig then watch him run back into your chopper just as everything goes up in an unholy ball of fire will bring out a nice laugh from even the most jaded gamer:)

Erm. Yeah, why? To me it isn't blinding obvious, it's quite fun for me although I haven't played the full game yet.

The game had horrible graphics, the story was slow, bad vehicle physics. The game was boring, a stupid plot, it wasn't really 'unique' or interesting. Horrible voice acting. Everything about the game was horrible. The only part I found interesting was the "targer practice" sessions.
 
I think this game is not to be taken seriously, haven't tried it yet but Mercs 1 had no story, the graphics weren't great, nor the physics. This game has one simple meaning, something that almost anyone will find fun. Blowing **** up, and then blowing **** up with a friend :)
