I have a mercury cougar that i want to FULLY customize. I want to know what is the biggest engine i can put in it. Does anyone know or know how i can find out?

Any thing is possible, but I've seen them with the 5.0 outta a stang so I don't know why that wouldn't work. Go to a Cougar forum they will tell you everything you want to know.

If you're talking about the early Cat. 1967-1972, You can go up to 460cid.
If you're talking one onf the new ones, You'd have to convert to Rear drive to make the 4.6 or 5.0 work.

I hope you are talking REAL Cougar and not the **** new one. OK, you an transplant every V8 you want to your muistang, Id love to se a 429 or even better a 427 side oiler cat. a new modular powerplant would be sick too. the sky is the limit these days.

if you are talking about a new one, sell it. now.

Being a Cougar owner myself you can put a V8 into any of the pre 1998 models, you could get a v8 standerd on anything pre 1998 too. The new cougar is a hunk of junk fwd, they should have named it as the new probe or something. You can still put big engines into them 460cid if you want but not many people have the money to do that.

Go to http://www.lowridereuroweb.com/tech/0305lre_aerogear/
This is what i want my cougar to look like.

So what do you think the biggest engine would work best with a 10000 dollars?

AAAH... a ricer/blinger. you could have said that in the first place. two words: you absolutely suck. the word in the middle was added by me.

the Cougars of yore were real cars.

well, you can if you practically rebuild it entirely, but it would be better to accomodate an aerogear body kit to th... oh wait...

You're right I own a new edge cougar and it's pretty slow....

The most popular serious upgrade to the engine is swapping out the 2.5 Duratec for the 3.0....that along with the usual stuff and it's possible to get the poor thing to well over 200hp...putting a Cobra engine would be my dream, but is't practical ....

well at least the car looks good ...here's mine:

I like the aero kit for the new cougar, and if it were rear wheel drive, I would get one. I had a friend of mine that had a cougar, and I kind of liked it. I was watching TV this weekend and they had a Cougar at a competition that had 500hp from the V6, and it had the aerogear kit, but it was still FWD. Good luck on your dream.

the twin exhaust looks good, and I like the color. install some wheels, and add a turbo.

I would paint it like this:

Giovanna Anzio in 18 or 19". Then buy some Bilstein Suspension they are the best and drop it down as much as possible. The car has a nice form, don't install any other parts. The twin exhaust is really nice.

If available, I would change the brake lights into californian style, like this:

Please tell me its an old Cougar. What year is it.

If its new, sell it now.

That red cougar looked very nice. I dont know why they dont come stock with dual exhaust. The 2.5l duratec is a very good engine.

I konw that everyone thinks im stupid for doing this but i just want to know what it will take to get this car to at least a 400 hp car. Dont critice me, just tell me what it will take to do it.
