New Viper's are Here!

Welcome To

Merlin's Mystic Machines

I have been playing since GT2, and have been bitten by the tuning bug. I started by finding tunes that were close to my style and modifying them to fit my style. As I have learned more I have started to tune my own. We do all have a different style, and my tunes are not going to be for everybody. The Fast Experts ( a group I do not yet belong) will probably find my tunes a little safe and boring. If something a little more on the edge is need, just ask, I will point you in that direction if I can. Constructive feedback is welcome and encouraged.
I will race most anything, and like cars in general. Fords and their Shelby cousins will be well represented here. Old American muscle cars are my passion, and even starting to like some of the new ones.
All tunes, and this thread are a work in progress. Weather its a new tune, an exchange of ideas, or just a chance to shoot the breeze with like minded people, I hope there is a little something here for everybody. Merlin

Nice to see you're opening up shop here in the tuning forum :) It's always great to see new garages opening and I look forward to seeing what magic spells you cast on the tunes you choose to share with the GTPublic :D

Best of luck with your garage Merlin

This is a fun car to drive using your tune. I tested on all Sports Tyres & it handled nicely. One thing i didn't like is it turns in a little to quickly for my driving style but it's more to do with the car than your tune. I've tried other tunes & all have a similar feel to them. Well done on a great tune & i look forward to trying some more:cheers:

I cannot seem to match these ratios following your tune, I can reach them with a top speed of 143 mph though.

Huh? I got it to build ok. will double check it. You caught the oil change?
Yup, everything matches your tune except the top speed. Either you used a final gear or top speed different than written. It drives great in my opinion. :)

I'll have to check it a little later. Thanks bud.

Edit: You were right DaBomm4. Fixed now. Thanks for the catch.

NOTE: Tuned at Silverstone and Laguna Seca. Fast. Edit...UPDATED GEAR PACKAGE... I like this package much better. Makes better use of the huge amount of torque this engine has and applies it to the ground better. Easier to drive, and faster lap times!

Just a little copy/paste from the review I left in the Car of the Month thread. Thought you might like it here.

@fordracer 500pp AAR Cuda 340 Six Barrel review:

This will be the first of two reviews for you, should be fun to compare the times between them even with a 50pp split. That should give you an insight to what was coming. So of course, Laguna will be up first.

Laguna - lap time 1.34.117
Not sure why the lap time was slower than the others, I know it's only 500pp but still. I LOVED the sound of the Semi-racing exhaust! And the handling you put under this thing, it wanted me to push harder, and I did, and it took it. But the lap time does not show how much fun this tune is, or how great it stuck to the track. Might have been the brakes were too good, as I needed to adjust to how well they slowed the car down, often I was just about stopping way too early. Might have been costing me time but who cares. It was FUN driving this thing, power was ridiculously easy to get down and fir the track perfectly.

Willow - lap time 1:21.593
First the negatives, the brakes again gave me issues but I was able to adjust quickly here. Final corner and the left hander just before the uphill section was slowing down quicker than expected. The gearing, as with sinof1337's tunes, could have been stretched a bit for this track, but not if you looked at the stop watch. This beast was tamed, stable and stuck like glue, just an awesome tune. Amazing how quickly throttle could be applied on exit, and it would not jump, just grab some asphalt and go.

FANTASTIC tune at 500pp, period!

And it would not be right to only show the one with this one as well now would it?

@fordracer Cuda 440 Six Pack 550pp tune review:

So, for some reason I thought both of your tunes were at 500pp, but not a big deal. Was really looking forward to this one after your AAR Cuda, but could it out perform it's sibling?

Laguna - lap time 1.32.081
Faster than it's sibling here, but this is the wild child. Not quite as stable as the Six Barrel. Patience was needed more to get the power down but it had more. Handled really well and the trans was again brilliant for this track. If you are looking for something a little more alive, this is it, but for stability I would choose the AAR. Both are fun, this one was faster though. ;)

Willow - lap time 1:21.625
That time is correct, it was just a blink slower than your AAR Cuda :odd:. Getting on the gas was the biggest difference, this one needed patience and then it would pull down the straight. The shorter straights are where the AAR must have gained an advantage. The handling on this tune however, was like it was on rails here and much more enjoyable than at Laguna.Maybe just a bit more gear for higher top speed would help as I was pretty much maxed at the start finish line. Either way, the time was fast and the drive fun and enjoyable.

Now the pressure is going to be on you to deliver next month. :dopey:
With the two tune you gave this month, I look forward to driving more.
Great job on a pair of MOPAR Beasts!

Hey buddy, I hope you don't mind me posting your CotM reviews here. I felt a little weird about posting there after it had been wrapped up, but I wanted to get the reviews in for you, as promised.

NOTE: Tuned for COTM at Laguna Seca
I built this baby expecting to know how to handle it based on other reviews on the same car. I gotta tell ya, I forgot to add something to the tune when I built it, so I wasn't totally surprised when I took it for the first few laps around Laguna. My first impression (before fixing it) would have been ok, but not quite as stable. A little to much understeer on entry, a little wheelspin on exit if i tried to push it, but still fast and controllable with practice. I even had to check my personal settings to make sure I didn't have TC on ... then I realized I hadn't changed the tires from SH. Oops!! :O That fixed all the semi-negative issues I was having with the initial laps. Once I upgraded to soft tires my lap times improved and the handling flaws melted away 👍. The right entry speed was found and I was able to nail all of the corners and curves without flaw (except the corkscrew, that thing took a few laps to get it right). The tranny was good for Laguna and for Silverstone, and though the power drops a bit at the end of the gears, most of the corner exits were at the top of the gear, leaving no real issues with spin. It is a very fun car to drive, one of my favorites so far. I'm looking forward to the AAR. Splendid job sir. Very well done

'70 Plymouth AAR Cuda 340 Six Barrel

NOTE: Tuned at Silverstone. Tested at Rome, Laguna Seca and Willow Springs. Car has some fore/aft movement and a little body lean left in it by design. Let me know what you think. Thanks Merlin.

I figured it was only fair to give this tune the same treatment as the Six Barrel so I started off at Laguna with SH tires. Gotta tell ya, it did not dissapoint :). A bit of understeer is present on corner entry, and the rotation under hard braking is more apparent, but the grip is amazing! Much like Shaunm80s tune, I had to really get on it to get the rear to break loose . With a little tweaking to soften the front springs and ARBs, this tune could be a force to be reckoned with in the 500pp Muscle Car catagory with SH tires. Lots of fun chucking it around Laguna and Silverstone battling myself for faster laps. So much fun, in fact, I got 7 laps in at Siverstone before I remembered that I still hadn't changed the tires yet. So I changed 'em and went back out to fling it around some more :mischievous:. The Soft tires, as before with the Six Pack, made a huge difference in overall handling. The fore/aft movement as described in your notes was no longer present for me with the upgrade, but I could feel the initial torque doing its job. I love how the lsd numbers you chose gave the soft entry and eager exit during cornering. Throttle control helps to maintain a clean line but the back end doesn't want to slip out if you floor it past the apex. The brakes seemed a little high for my liking, but I got used to them before the first lap was done. Very good rotation in cornering by a near perfect BB lsd combo. The tranny on this was as good or better as the Sixxer, imo. It allowed an auto shift out of almost every turn without losing much time to driver error and never really dropped as the revs got higher. Loved this tune as well. Again, great job on this one too. I will be frequenting your garage more often to check on some more builds
