Has anybody noticed while in an online lobby - your cars performance totally going to pot for no good reason, as if the damage model has turned itself on without you actually colliding with anything?

At GBRC, we are running several online championships, and in particular, this phenomenon happens mostly with the RM 91 Acura NSX that many of us are all using. Some people have experienced this phenomenon with other cars, but it’s mostly occurs with this NSX it seems.

Symptoms are as follows:

1: Reduced power, 150mph car struggling to do 120mph.
2: Car veering to the left or right, intermittently
3: Very poor handling all-round, car won’t turn at all in certain directions.
4: phenomenon comes and goes, with symptom varying in severity.

It seems to only happen online, and not while driving offline.

We had a 16 car race the other night totally ruined, as about 8 people had suffered the symptoms to different degrees. I managed 20 laps before it got me, with the car driving like I smashed into a wall at 150mph. We had drivers qualifying with 1:25s, but then struggling to do 1:36s during the race, and some drivers not even able to complete a lap as the cars performance was so bad.

This has now ruined 3 of our official GBRC online races, and is a real worry now everytime we race.

Has anybody else experienced this?

(Sorry if this has been posted before)

Could be your connection to others, but that probably wouldn't make sense considering it's your own car (and the others') not performing well.

I think this has happened to me before, though not as severe. Just the car losing power for half a second on a straight or something.

Other members have noticed it in other races as well as while testing in online lobbies. Its becoming so common now, that at least 1 person experiences something while racing. We run multiple lobbies, and had the same probs occuring in both lobbies at the same time.

Its' so weird!!

The one thing I will say is when I host I keep the max participants to 10-12 people. I've found anything higher and the connection starts getting funky. Most likely, though, 1 or more participant in your race had a bad connection that was slowing the room down and screwing with it.

The connection possibility as the cause is floating around among GBRC members as a possible cause, though the issue has shown up in lobbies with very few people, and on occasion while members have alone.

How long has this been happening?

I haven't experience online, but I know I have an EVO that I used to drift with and suddenly, this car will not drift no matter how I set it up. I know its not me I'm no noob when it comes to getting sideways. I found it odd that the car would just change characteristics like that.

I think the physics online are definitely different, the cars seem to have less grip.

I was the first on GBRC forum to notcie it. In the beginning nobody believed me until others started to experience it. Its been about a week since I first noticed it, and it seems to be happening more frequently. We are going to experiment and turn off the damage model, rather then having it set to light, just incase the glitch is related to that; as the handling charactaristics of the car once suffering the glitch are most similar to when your car has been damaged from a heavy collision

I have noticed a problem like this in kart races where boost is on high. If 'm way out in front, the game will greatly affect three things: steering ability is reduced (wheel needs to be turned more for same in-game steering), braking power is reduced, and acceleration/top speed is reduced.

A member has confirmed the problem exists also offline.

I have experienced the exact same thing you are having. Car suddenly becomes unstable like if a shock was blown.

Yeah I think that's what boost is all about, it's another word for rubberbanding not a glitch. If your way out in front, you will have less grip, power etc. so other player/s can catch up. If you happen to spin out, you still have a chance of winning.

3: Very poor handling all-round, car won’t turn at all in certain directions.

I have experienced this in the 4hr Nurb enduro offline.

The car wouldn't turn left without slowing to low speed.
A lookback check confirmed the front wheels would turn fully.

It did happen right after a spin, so I attributed it to mechanical damage, although I had run this race 4 times having a few wrecks, but never had it happen before.

Edit: No, its a glitch. I just restarted the race and it still does it.
Second restart, is OK now.

**Ran this race again and found out the Acura NSX RM 91 just seems to be very sensitive to mechanical damage. If you spin and hit anything fairly hard more than once, steering and power damage is incurred. Therefore I don't think its a glitch.**

I am suprised more people have not experienced this. We have about 50 active racers in our group and the majority of them have experienced this.

I would advise some who are intrigued to go off and buy an Acura NSX, race mod it, and run it with no more than 305bhp. Head to SSR5 in an online lobby, and keep doing laps and you should come accros this phenomenon.

Been watching this thread with great interest as I was with Pappaclart when he first experienced it and had it first hand in my own private lobby with my own car that I hardly use on Special stage 5.

Can definitely say the issues occurred when there was less then 4 ppl in my room, can also confirm that there was no connection issues at all from our side, (unless there is something from PSN/PD's end,)

Answering an earlier post on this thread we had 2 rooms running the 27 lap event and was due to amalgamate the results at conclusion. Both rooms suffered the same problems where most of the NSX drivers (Silvia vs Acura NSX both race modded,) dropped places from lap 5 onwards. The entire experience was rather weird since our members have raced each other quite a few times we are familiar with the clubs pecking order so to speak.

Members at GBRC turned off damage, ran a race at Tokyo, same problem again. This problem seems to appear more during races at city tracks.

We have now changed our next scheduled race event to Grand Valley.
