Metallic - Color combined with metal flakes for a glossy effect

Mica - Gliterry rocks mixed with color produce iridescence

Matt - No shimmer, minimum reflection

Take your pick. :)

...And Matt for me. With practically every car on the road having shiny finish, this is fresh air. The LFA in Matt black is amazing.

Thing is, it's harder to keep a matte finish looking decent than a metallic/glossy finish.

And the trouble is, most people with a car that's matte can be described accurately with a particular word that rhymes with matte.

I'd say mica. Apart from anything, because the Mazda2 in the first post in a shimmery red mica looks great.

Whatever color the manufacturer's works team uses, or the National Racing Color.

chrome :D
no seriously, it depends on the colour. For example bayside blue is a great colour, but I also like matt black or misano red pearl.

So what about the regular gloss colors, without any kind of metallic, but still shiny?

I like those.

EDIT: It's also Matte, not Matt.

They are old-school so I didn't include it. As for Matte there seems to be ambiquation as to the spelling. I've encountered it both as Matt and as Matte.

I think Metallic can look great on almost most cars.
Mica can look good for not many, I think it makes cheap cars look even cheaper.
Matt, only for a few.

Anyone knows what kind of Matt finish is it really? Is it very smooth and easy to wash? or it can catch dirt very quickly?

I would have to go with a paint job I saw at a performance shop locally. It was like 'semi-gloss' I suppose you would call it. It was not full on matte or gloss. Looked really good on the lowered truck it was on.
