Anybody else have this album. I never realized how awsome the songs were on here. Every one has extremely good guitar playin which is mainly all I care about don't pay much attention to lyrics anymore. The best songs are Ride the Lightning , For Whom the Bell Tolls and Fade to Black but the rest are good also.

Metallica was a really good band. They started to go downhill after the black album.

Yea the Black album is they're best one, but after listening to this one for a few days I'd say it comes in a close second for lack of song amount.

IMHO, Tallica will never outdo Puppets...

I'm also one of the few who thinks that Load and ReLoad are among the best tuff they've done... Tallica + Blues = Awesomeness !....

Hell I have Ride the Lightning record...yes those big black things. I also have the CD and the cassett tape somewhere, but I prefer the records just due to sheer awesomeness.

Dude that's awsome. I always have gotten a kick out of the fact you can hear the music without the volume turned on.

The only records in my house are my dads. Which consist of Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Ratt, Van Halen and White Snake are tho ones I can think of off the top of my head.

I try to find them where I can but most of the time the records I find are in bad shape, this one was in mint condition and only ran me $10 at a swap meet. My goal is to get all Metallica records.

they started going downhill with and justice for all. that one was good, but the black album was subpar to say the least.

i have a bunch of vinyl. mostly new stuff that none of you have ever heard of.

Your dad ROCKS !.... I'm fairly sure I can find most of the mentioned bands in my vinyl collection as well !...

That's what I thought for a while, but actually I like all albums now. They're just different. I like the Cliff Burton era as much as the 'commercial' era which started IMO with the black album ; and even St-Anger sounds very powerful.
My favourite is Justice, but it was my first ever metal album in 1988, just before my father died, and I must have listened to it thousands of times at that time.

BTW, it's rather off-topic, but I have a vinyl (1989 I think) of a band named 'Deathwish'. It's incredibly great too, and I don't remember having ever found someone who knew about this band.
Does any of you know them ?

flat-out

The name dosen't ring any bells but I'll check em out just to see.

I have an imported CD of Ride The Lightning, it was one of the first CDs I bought and I got it real cheap considering it was an imported version. It's a great album, but I never really liked The Call Of Ktulu.

If you're talking about the late-80's Thrash band, then yes. I think I have Demon Preacher around here somewhere.

That's the one. 'Demon preacher', with a cover of 'Symptom of the Universe' (Black Sabbath).

The black album is good, but very soft, when compared to their previous work. '...And Justice for All' was for a long time my favourite, but upon listening to it closely, you barely can listen to the bass track... I think they should re-master it. But the allt ime Metallica best is 'Master of Puppets'. 'Ride the Lightning' is good, and without the existence of 'Master' would probably be the best, but it just paved the way for 'Puppets'.

As a matter of fact, my first Metallica album was 1987's 'Garage Days Re-Revisited' (on LP), before the advent of CDs, MP3s and other portable media. After listening to it a couple of times I decided I had to buy myself more of these guys and got 'Ride the Lightning' which was my favourite album together with AC/DCs 'For Those About to Rock' ('Puppets' was sold out). I liked it so much it was my fav album, until I finally got 'Puppets'... from then on it was an uphill magnificence to 'Justice'. The problem with 'Justice' is that it's too perfect. There was no way Metallica could go after 'Justice' but down.

I got a new record set today, S&M on vinyl for only 18 bucks. It was new and still sealed...however I opened it because I wanted to listen to it. I'm still trying to find the others by going to flea markets and record stores.

Wow, I didn't even know they still made vinyls. Must be pretty tough to find. I have S&M on CD, I'm not a big fan of vinyls.

Pretty easy to find at flea markets, record stores, and eBay.

Metallica is one of my favorite bands.

After the black album I only like a few of their songs...

But..

The four main albums before the black album are so freaking fantastic it cannot be expressed in words. Just, every song rocks. The black album does too, but not in the same way.
