started the mg cup today after buying a MGF TF for the spider and roadster (orwhatever it is( which was a bad choice)). ran it unmodified and took second last... I just cant keep up. put a race flywheel, semi-race exhaust and turbo 1 upgrade and now win fairly easily. I think its because of starting last and having only short races. :ouch:

anyhow, what are other peples experiences with this race series? what measures have you had to take to win. has anyone done this unmodded and won?

I used thisfor the MG Festival: Sports Exhaust, NA Stage1, 195 hp, using the following settings:

MGF

All mods (including stage 3 weight reduction) except: no rollcage, no nitro.

Springs 6.1/6.7
Height 112/115
Bound 5/6
Rebound 7/8
Camber 2.0/1.0
Toe 2/-4
Stab 4/4

Brakes: 5/10

Trans: 10
ASM: 0
TCS: 3
LSD 5/25/20

Balast/Balance: 200/-50 (I did this instead of tinkering with a wing!)

(With NA Stage 3, R3/R3, 273 hp - 1’00.647 at Tsukuba)

so i take it that you just took them out on corners slammer, or did you also use the extra grip to incerase exit speed?

pmgolf: bet you blitzed them hey! :D

Really, I bought the '97 MGF and won with just an oil change.

what strategies did you use on such an even field 98cobra? must have been tough going!

I just drove the hell out of it. Just use the apex on the track the best that you can. Keep trying, you'll get it. 👍

Pay Honour to MG,

5000+ employees will lose their job this weekend because MG will no longer be a profitable car company. It's bankrupt, or nearly there

"No longer proftable"?

They lost £95m in 2003 and £77m in 2004.

I was not able to express myself in the best way. It was sometime ago that I attended school;)

this picture explains more :source BBC

Ummm...

No offence, but most people know that MG Rover are going down the pan, what with the thread in the AutoNews forum. And given that I'm also British...

They haven't, to my knowledge, EVER turned a profit - not since the late 1960s at any rate. That - or the market share - has no effect on the fact they're going. They're going because they can no longer afford to pay their creditors and have a £400 million hole in the pension funds. Their cars are simply outdated rubbish, made poorly, marketed badly and sold through an unhelpful dealer network.

Frame refresh, oil change, sport suspension, sport soft tires, clutch, flywheel, chip. It was a slaughter. Stock I couldn't do better than 2nd and 3rd. Starting from the rear makes it to where you practically have to mod, especially when using the '97 used model.
Was the oversteer just an absolute nightmare or what? Also had to break down and use a touch of oversteer ASM. 1 or 2 clicks, even when modded. Probably could've worked it out with full custom suspension but didn't want to drop the credits for one series. Didn't like the car enough to try it out in other series races

I raced in a stock TF and won every race first time.

Ving, softer tyres allow you to outbrake them keep a higher corner speed and higher exit speed allowing you to draft to the next corner and repeat the process, tough but loads of fun as long as you don't make a mistake :)

I ran the TF stock for the entire series but i took off all driving aids. The key is to drive very smooth in the series especially since the grid is usually pretty even, and the cars themselves are relatively low powered in comparison to what many people are used to.
