Also need to turn you mic down in the PS3 settings so you don't pick up all of the background noise, just your voice.

I prefer a wired headset... So I don't have to worry about batteries or recharging I have the px21 turtlebeach headset nothing fancy but a good headset if you don't want to spend a lot on a headset

Turtle Beach headsets rule. I've owned two pair (X4 and now PX5) and a buddy owned a set of PX21s, and they've all been TOP NOTCH.

Not all mics can be adjusted in the XMB unfortunately. My wireless SOCOM bundled mic can't, but my old wired SOCOM bundled mic can.

Very irritating as i have to turn the game down to barely audible to not pick it up, along with TV/music.
