Michigan Tech Winter Carnival snow statues, now with 2010 creations! (page 2)

This weekend is our annual winter carnival, and all the dorms and fraternities/sororities built snow statues. I went out and took some pictures and shall show off the talents of some fellow students.

And perhaps my favorite, a Futurama-themed statue.

I friggin' LOVE the WALL-E statues, they are amazing! So much good, techy stuff in there, absolutely amazing what they were able to accomplish!

Edit: looking close up at my pics, I don't see him in the scene. He may have been towards the back where I couldn't see, not sure. As far as I can tell, the obvious ones are Farnsworth, Fry, Leela, and Zoidberg (from left to right). I could go check it out tomorrow and see if I missed anything!

I'm thinking it's just a matter of not seeing the entire scene, I didn't get from all angles so I probably missed something.

Those are amazing, it doesnt snow much in London so when it snowed on Monday we had rubbish and retarded snowmen littered all over the place as we dont get much practice

Haha most of them were built over a span of a month, but some were built all night wednesday (called the "all nighter") and turned out pretty good. Some of the techniques they use are pretty cool.

You guys would do something like that up at Tech... Was there an outer space theme or was all the outer space stuff just because you're at a Tech school?

It would be cool to have the snow to do that down here. Looks like a pretty sweet event.

Yeah there's always a theme, and this year was space related.

The scale doesnt really translate until you see some of the larger ones with humans stood next to them holding cameras... then it's like......damn! those things are huge!

Wow, very cool stuff - it reminds me of the Harbin Snow and Ice Festival in China on a smaller scale. If you know some of the artists, convince them to put some lights inside next year for a great effect!
