After people asking me heaps of times, I'm out to buy a microphone for MC:LA. I'm not too sure about them. What does everyone else have here? I don't really care about the price that much but the cheaper the better. Are there quality differences between them or what? :)👍

Usb microphone/headset can put you back about a minimum of 40 dollars but bluetooth headsets can go for as little as 20 dollars. I bought mine off a friend for 10. Really, usb is better quality unless you go for about 60+ dollars on a wireless eg. Playstation Headset.

Really they arent all that expensive but quality is where money comes in:tup:.

My buddy just bought a 20$ blue tooth. It works better then my 50$ blue tooth and my logitech usb headset. His is one of the cheap plantronics (I think that's how you spell it). Really any of the blue tooth's these days seem to be a good choice. I would look for one that has the same kind of charger input as the ps3 usb cord you use to charge your controller. It makes it alot easier to keep your headset charged if you can just plug it in to your ps3, while your not using it.

I picked up my Jabra on sale for $25.

There is one thing I'd look for if I were you provided you're planning on bluetooth - a volume rocker. It's nice to have a quick and easy solution to someone who is screaming in your ear because they have their mic set too high.

I think I'd find the bluetooth a bit annoying, I'd rather have a simple plug in USB. :)

Anyway, the one Legendary pointed out seems like a good choice. I'll look into it, off to the shops now.

Oook, just bought a Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000. I'm not sure about it too much, I don't want to open it unless I'm sure it'll work, since I can still return it if I don't open it.

It's the same one Legendary pointed out in the previous post.

You can't return it if it's opened? Glad not all stores are like that or I'd be out some serious bank.

Good luck!

Looks like it's working, now to test it out with someone.

Yep it's working.

I might leave this thread open to anyone else too.

I think in the UK you can return anything to any store (its law) even if opened and used within 14 days provided its not things like stuff that comes into close contact with you like earphones.

Robin.

Well the deal I got was non opened, and unused for max. 2 weeks after purchase. It's usually like the standard here.

I'm using the same one as yours. This microphone is good, but a few hours later, my ears started to hurt. Also, you can't even change the volume.

Yeah, I got a very very slight headache. I'm not using the headphone speakers, I'm just using my normal speakers so I wouldn't know.

Plug it into the ps3.
From the dashboard go to the settings tab and then to audio device settings. From there you should be able to select your microphone and adjust the levels etc, should work after that.

Yeah, i did everything like you said.

But is that normal i not hear my own voice and not see the "chat ballon" in the side of my name while im trying to talk in the lobie? I dont know if the people was hearing me.

I have a set of LX-3000 as well which I used for a couple of years before upgrading. It's actually a pretty decent entry level headset, plus I looove the easy access, one-click mute button.

I would not recommend them 100 % for gaming, but they do work ok even then.

A Microsoft LX-3000 headset plugged into PS3 will only work as a mic as it's USB input only. You will not be able to hear yourself speak or hear others speak or hear in game audio. You need something like a Logitech F540 headset or a Turtle Beach headset. One that has USB and a 3.5mm headphone jack split to the RCA stereo red/white plugs into your TV audio out, or off your PS3's standard definition cables audio outputs. The 3.5mm jack into RCA red/white splitter like so....

You'd be able to hear game chat, game audio as well as chat on PS3. If you want to be able to hear yourself on PS3 game chat you need a Turtle Beach headset as it's the only one I know of that has mic monitoring. I find the mic monitoring to be annoying, but you can't turn it off except on the really high end Turtle Beach headsets.

I got mine at Walmart.com and chose in store pick-up at the one across the street from my house, same price as Amazon. Works like a champ on PC and PS3 and X360. 👍

See you on PSN bro!
