..putting in its last video teaser (dream) the two emblematic cars of GT5/GTPSP and SHIFT, great move.... especially when we saw the last Sony gamecon conference: WHERE IS GT5??

The corvette ZR1

the BMW M3 GT2:

Yet again another attempt by T10 to steal everybody else's thunder. Which is precisely why i think they are w*****s.

I don't see the harm at all..

Why can't they just be showing that "Look, here's our models of the same cars, they aren't too bad are they?"..

Now that some snippets of GT5 are coming to light, I'm really happy that we have so many good games..

Why the constant bitching about what everyone else is doing? it sounds like people are insecure or something..

I'm so hyped for GT5, but it doesn't stop me looking at FM3 images/vids and thinking, "Yeah, that's actually quite passable, it'll be a nice looking game".. knowing that GT5 will be that bit better yet not feeling all bitter about the competition..

Well its more that on the day both the games which use these cars as the flagships so to speak have released details T10 come on and effectively say hey look at us ours are better. Why couldn't they just have some decency and release them a week or so later?

I have to say those exhausts on the BMW look 2d.

C.

+1

That seems a really odd choice for a press release screen shot, as it really does look shocking around the exhausts.....

Forza 3 looks like it will be a very good game, but it certainly looks like GT has it beet by a mile when it comes to the looks...
The reflection on the 'Vett just screams game to me!

There is a video on Gametrailers showing these cars, and the exhausts are 3D, but seem to lack some detail/texturing that would emphasise it.

Don't see the "joke" myself, and if Microsoft don't want to add support for the G25/27 then I will never buy a 360.

This is from T10 own trailer at E3:

And of course this:

I'm afraid that some of FM3 fans (well the casual ones anyway) will be sorely dissappointed when the actual game comes out. Those with GT experience may already know what to expect- that released screenshots are seldom (if ever) indicative of actual gameplay. I understand the temptation to use anything else but from the actual gameplay but these developers are building expectations that are beyond realistic. I tried sorting through a lot of the videos from E3, Le Mans 09 and GC09, just to find anything that's remotely close or an indication that there's some truth in the screenshots but nothing comes close. I mean if a 360 is capable of outputting such an image, even through photomode, I'll be damned.

lol photos are always from guess what "photo mode". You can´t play graphics anyway so what does it matter? It´s 2009 and there is still people that seem to believe graphics are everything :)

It really say nothing about how good a racing game/simulation is. But then I am not one of the behind car jockeys.

It does seem they added those cars because GT and Shift have been showing them off but I don't see any problems with it, other cars in the trailer because they are often requested (R33 GTR, Fox body mustang, Revention).

Forza 3 did show off the ZR1 first at E3.

Obviously you've missed my point entirely. It's because developers/publishers decide to use "photomode" as an indication of what the game is/will be, it admonishes the argument that gameplay not graphics should take precedence. The consumers/gamers can't help but be affected/intrigued. I guess there's the joke.

The 2 OP images are very nice indeed.
What's up with the decals on the rear wing of the BMW?
This photo has no game decal, maybe a rival?

Here is a photo from this years ALMS race at Lime Rock. The decal is for NFS SHIFT.
To me this is some kind of inside joke.
Are these 2 games (Forza, NFS) affiliated in any way?

Two different 'vehicles'. That very same livery is in GTR2, same rear spoiler decal and all. 👍

I know nothing about these other titles mentioned as GT are the only racing games I have.
I'm guessing that "Sponsorship" is keeping the NFS decals from being put into these games as the car in the image is an IMSA approved ALMS race car. Number 92. Same car in my photo, even with the same drivers. Real authentic.
I'm also guessing that NFS is a new sponsor for this year at Rahal/Letterman and/or NFS are not paying the game developer/publisher to allow the decals to be shown.
Or they are just using an older model of the BMW without the NFS sponsor as this is the first year the BMW's have run in ALMS. The race cars have been around for a lot longer though (concept thru race ready). The livery is similar, not the same, so I would guess it's an old model the games used.
So to agree with you, yes, different cars. 👍

I know that I would like to see the 2 ALMS BMW's (90 &92) in GT5.
Actually the whole ALMS field would be great.
The Audi R10 is a blast to drive.

Do you really think any game company will put another rival's logo in their game? Thats not good buisness, unless you are Coke or Pepsi showin how much "better" you are.

Tommy Milner, one of the drivers for Rahal/Letterman (you can see his name above Mueller's on the car) is one of the driver's featured in SHIFT's The Driver's Experience video. I guess that would make him a spokesperson for the game.

I would like to see more proof of this for either game, on cars in particular. Forza games don't whatsoever I believe, they'll change the logo/decal to something else. The only evidence I've seen in Gran Turismo would be Suzuka Circuit with the Konami Logo about the track, I'm not sure of any cars that would have Forza Decals have made it into GT games in the past?

No. The deal is the original #92 M3 livery made into FM3 before the car was announced as the "hero" for NFS Shift. The #92 didn't have the Shift logo on the car until PLM at Road Atlanta. Plus, FM3 would never put a rival's logo in the game (nor GT5 for that matter).
