I've had this issue with two different headsets. One plantronics bluetooth ear piece and a wired Turtle beach set.

In both cases, I can voice chat during races with no issue, then the mic will just be dead. Later it will work again. I can make no sense of it.

It always seems to work from the PS3 accessories menu and changing sensitivity level doesn't seem to help. Turning the mic from mute to unmuted (mute switch on Turtle Beach controller) seems to help - sometimes. I've searched and there are a lot of people complaining about mics cutting in and out in general on PS3 games but no actual solutions.

Any ideas?

I'm also having this problem with my turtle beach px21 headset. No clue what causes it or how to fix it.

Im convinced it's one of two things either low headset battery, or low bandwidth. My PS headset seems to work better on a full charge. It may also be the host connection, or the quality of the voice chat set by the host.

I am asking my league hosts if they have changed the default voice chat settings. For me I know it is not the battery (wired connection) and it isn't my bandwidth.

So that seems to leave the hosts bandwidth or voice chat settings.

Saw this title and immediately understood how annoying it can be.

I didn't think it was battery/bandwith because I use very high chat quality, and my bandwith is high with only 3 people driving it still cuts.

But then I hooked up my eyetoy and that worked perfectly.

What's odd is even if I cut out I can still hear others talking.

Same for me - can always hear but not always speak.

Tonight with just 3 in the room at any one time it worked though out the time we raced.

I also have a similar problem - the bluetooth pairs with the ps3 no problem. I get into an online race and it works fine - small number of people in the room. While I can hear everybody, over time the mic stops working. I can get the mic to start working again by pressing one of the buttons a couple of times.

The problem may be linked to the number of people in the room - as the number goes up the mic eventually cuts out. I know that GT was saying that if the number of racers crosses a certain number then the refresh rates are slower - maybe there is something similar with the mic. However, it seems to be just specific to me because the other people talk no problem. So I am not really sure.

Headsets ruin Going online

Not with a room full of friends it doesn't.

Op it could possibly be someone in the room has a poor connection or poor internet causing this,

tomorrow, PS3 firmware 4.20, resolving a ton of wireless comm issues / features

hope this fixes our in game sounds too, somewhat, perhaps PD is working with sony on this.

My mic issue only seems to happen when first starting a room.

After a race or two everyone can hear me fine.

I am the host with voice quality set to very high.

This is also my opinion based on various experiences. For example, when a certain people were in the lobby, my wired mic would cut in and out but I could hear fine. As soon as they left, my mic would work perfectly. It seemed to be the same for other people in the room. So, I believe you hit it right.

I also totally agree this is the issue. Someone in the room with bad Internet brings everyone else down with them! :(

I have been having this issue and as soon as a certain person leaves the room it all stops and everyone's mic's are ok again. :boggled:

I always seem to cause this issue due to a bad connection. Would this also cause "morse coding"?

 my post wasn't aimed at you mate. :)

We've been having a few issues in the rooms lately with all the mic's, although you are still the only person who morse codes! :D

Seems to have got worse in the last few weeks. :(

My ISP is Orange UK and I do a speedtest every day and the ping varies from 40 to 60 ms.
