I don't know if this has been asked many times, im sure it has but im new to gt planet so i was wondering..

does the mileage of a car affect its performance? if so, how? and can changing oil and doing the engine overhaul and the restoring the rigidity bring it back to its original performance?

yes the mileage definitely affects it, i am not sure whether the oil and overhaul COMPLETELY restores it, but it should come close

Yes the mileage does affect the performance.

After some several 100 miles the cars engine will experience a break in period where it will develop extra power. Prolonged usage of the same car will cause the HP to drop and the oil to turn black.
By getting an engine rebuild and an oil change the engine will be restored to higher power.
The chassis rigidity is only necessary after an endurance distance when the car will start to lose it's handling abilities. The restore will take it back to it's original handling feel.

Yes, mileage will affect HP output as follows:

- If you buy a new car, there is a run in period whereby HP will increase for a small period, before plateau'ing.
- After excessive usage, HP will start to decrease marginally
- The 'change oil' light will come on eventually. Changing the oil pushes HP back up to the plateau of earlier, and the cycle repeats.

After much mileage (a few hundred or thousand miles) the plateau level HP will start to drop i.e. you aren't getting the max HP out the engine, even with oil changes.

An engine rebuild will essentially start you off as if you had bought the car from new again, in terms of HP cycles.

edit: Tree'd by shem ;)

I've heard after 7000 miles is where your HP starts to drop.

As you have your answer and the thread wondered off topic, its closed.

Please also watch the double posts and yes, that language is along a fine line. If you're happy to walk it and suffer the costs, be my guest.
