I've pointed out a few of these in the past, and kick myself because someone came up with a simple idea, modified an existing product into something cool, then sold it for huge bucks.

It's called the Tik Clock. Take the innards from a $2 digital clock, connect a few LEDS and a cheap "randomizer" chip, package into a metal box. Voila! Sell it for $60.

Damn, why can't I come up with something this easy?

BTW, the clock reads 12:34

That's a good idear. Wierd though, binary code makes more sense.

I once had an idea of taking a standard window crank and retrofitting some power window sensors to it allowing you to move it 18* up or down depending upon if you wanted to cloes the window or, open it. Just to retain the origionality of a vintage interior with the convenience of modern techonolgy.

One of my mathematics teachers actually invented that system last year.
What, the binary system?

If they could invent some sort of electrical device (possibly using semiconductors) to hold one of two states, and implement a computation device based on such a number system, they could be famous! :dunce:

Yeah. I don't think he made any substantial amounts of money of it though. He suffered from a nervous break down earlier this year (which was not entirely my fault :sly: ) - now I have a teacher who invents less clocks and teaches more math. Needless to say it sucks.

(edit: THE CLOCK - you geeks.)

I don't think he was asking about the binary clock, so much as the binary SYSTEM as a whole.

My photography teacher used to rant on and on about the day he would retire. Blah blah blah, then he'd flick the release clasp on his watch and pretend to throw it across the room, "No more Man's Time. I'm going to be living on Nature's Time", he would say. "Up with the Sun, down with the Moon." Sure thing Art, sure thing.

Sorry to inform you, sn00pie, but you can't invent a number system any more than you can invent a number.

But if by some loophole you can, I lay claim to bases 7, 12, 24, and 1543.

EDIT: Whoops. Misunderstood.

LMAO skip :D

Silly crap gets invented all the time and people "ooohhhh shiny, cool, its so special" and buy it :/ And I just laugh at them.

EIther way, would still be nice to come up with something like that :dopey:

Umm, I don't get it how can you tell its says 12:34? I don't get it, can someone explain?

Oh wait I get it.:dunce:

^That's what I thought about the 3 blocks for the first number. Last time I checked, even in military time, there is no 30-hour.

I sat there staring at that thing for about 10 minutes scratching my head. Now I feel like an idiot. Why couldn't some one have saved me the time and embaressment by explaining it off the bat? :dunce: :dunce: :ouch:

Funny that they put six blocks in the ten minute place holder when it will at most only ever have five lit.
True, but it can be any five blocks. Which means you can really stump your friends when it lights up in different combinations :scared:

They put 6 mostly cause its more pleasing to the eye.. I think.

I was confused at first till I realized its irrelelvent which blocks are illuminated. Just how many is what matters...

I should make one for myself :P

I don't think the idea is that great. I can't even make out 12:34

Wow. You should go check out GTO on www.directmanga.com Your comment sounds just like something from that!

Hint: count how many lights are lit.

And you're right, the idea isn't that great. It's so very simple, and I see these every day. I keep kicking myself, because I haven't come up with a simple, stupid idea that I can sell for mucho dinero and retire by age 40.

:D

My teacher just came up with an idea for a product, and today it was accepted and sold to some random company. Surface Leaf Catcher for a pool. I'll get a copy of his printed advertisement for it one day.

Simple ideas...
