So I'm trying to do the Mini Challenge, in B-Spec mode. Naturally, my Bob drives as if he's sitting in the driver seat backwards, so I figured 'ok, I'll go and tune it a bit', 'it' being my 2007 Cooper S.

This is where it gets very strange.

Engine, Stage 1 upgrade: 2bhp for 2,500.
Sports intake manifold: 6bhp, 2,500.
Sports exhaust: 11bhp, Semi racing 17bhp, racing exhaust 21bhp!

It gets better! 20,000 on a Stage 3 Turbo gets you a massive 19bhp.

What the hell is going on? Surely this can't be right? Has anyone tuned the 2005, and does it produce more power than this?

Some cars are just a colossal waste of money for very small gains. The weight reeduction on a mini really helps.

The cooper s has supercharger on it stock so turbo upgrade would remove all that power then add itself thus only a net gain of 19.

Yeah, I think that's what I'll do and hope it's enough for Bob to sort his life out and win that race.

I'm sure this is a glitch, I mean I'm used to Kei cars and such getting very little power for the same money as other cars which gain loads from tuning, but a Mini Cooper S? It's a 1.6 Turbo, yet you can barely get anything from it.

I bought the 2005 version out of curiosity and I'm pleased to say you can get way more power out of it through upgrades, and (as normal) you get more power from upgrades once you've installed a few, so I wonder if the 2008 version would get substantially more power when you've done all the upgrades? I really don't want to be the one to spend close to 200,000 to find out, though! So after spending roughly 30,000cr this will have more power than the 2007 version I've got.

Sorry but the 2005 Cooper S had a supercharger, they changed it to turbocharging with the 2007. That did occur to me, but you can't change the type of forced induction anyway.

damm thanks for the heads up, i mean i brought the Ford truck in the used car lot, cannot rmemeber the name, but i put roughly the same amount of tuning and shes near 500 bhp lol.. i didnt even add a supercharger too!!

So what is the best mini to get for the races?

If you're doing it A-Spec, the 2007 is fine, I did it stock and it was great, but for B-Spec the AI driver is terrible so it helps to give him an advantage through tuning, so I'm going to work on the 2005 and see if I can get him to win with it.

I'll be massively 'annoyed' if he still can't do it...

they should really have not made a whole b spec mode should of just kept it like they did in the previous game and also you cant fast forward anymore and its very stressful

B-Spec I won the challenge with an '07 Mini with a top speed of 150.

Tell me about it, even with a 750bhp Ford Lightning he only just won the Sport Truck race. Why, why, why would a driver ever need to slam on the brakes when crossing the start/finish line at Daytona Speedway? Why? The other AI's don't have strange moments like that, so I'm hoping that once you hit a certain level Bobs will start driving like the AI, thus being able to win without a hugely overpowered car.

this might be a little costly for just one race, but it works, my lvl15 bob didn't have any problems with the race.

i wanna add that i'm a little higher level at this point so i can grind a few expert races and have 200+k to blow on the car :/

StageIII Weight reduction
Windows
Chassis reinforcement (if u can afford it)

ECU tuning
StageI Engine tuning

Intake Manifold
Race Airfilter

Exhaust manifold
Catalytic converter
Titanium Exhaust

Clutch
Flywheel

Sport shocks (i went cheapest on it, only b.c the cooper handles ok already)

Sport Hard tires.

u can try by adding a few at a time and see how well your bob does then you can save a little money

I cant remember what car but once I installed a Stage 2 engine upgrade I actually lost 20 HP! Then with stage 3, I got 40 HP. So basically I spent about 30,000 Credits for 20 HP.

Actually, it's more like spending 45,000 CR for 20 HP. 10,000 per HP is almost as bad as my Cooper S 2007(Premium), 30,000 gets 2 hp. For some reason, I feel as if giving someone 30,000 to give an engine more horsepower, even a 1.6 turbo, they could do more than that. (not including the first two stages money!)

And the argument of stage 1 and 2 are not valid, since 2 was the same (2bhp) and 1 was nothing special, less than 20 if I remember correctly.

Cooper S -07 and Peugeot 207 GTi (RC) has exactly same 1.6 T engine (BMW).Pug gives much more power out after upgrades?-"It's in the game"

Some cars don't even give any extra power when upgrading...

One of our lads tuned over 300 bhp out a mini. Its an awzome little car that packs a huge punch !
