(1) Mini Cooper vs. VW [New] Beetle
Two low horsepower cars. Both of which have their appeal. Both of which are inexpensive. But which is better in the low-horsepower, highly dependable segment?
The Mini Cooper is pretty cool. It breathes life back into an old classic. And I'll tell you what. I don't know what it is about small cars like the Mini Cooper, but I got respect for little cars like this, even if I don't have the budget for an 11-second street car. The Mini Cooper does have that cyclopean dash in the middle, which is a disadvantage if you watch your speeds. If I had one of those, I'd like it in... I don't know what color. British racing green, red, or maybe dark blue. Of course, if I was a tuner, I'd paint it in my "team colors."
And now the car you either think is cute, or just plain ugly. Note how I said "New Beetle" in the topic. This is so if anyone was dug up from the past and don't have a clue about today's world, or for those who froze themselves and was recently thawed to see the new world. Anyhow, the New Beetle (I'll admit) is kind of cute. But I think in performance, it is slightly less powerful than the reborn Cooper. However, the New Beetle has performance to keep it from being a living, breathing "Cuteness Museum" exhibit.
So, which car is better?
(2) Size doesn't matter: Tiny terrors!
About the most creative small cars in the world (besides the ones I mentioned above) come from Japan. The ugly Daihatsus (except the Storia), the race car-like Mazda AZ-1, the interesting Honda Beat, and the Subaru 360. Now sure they can be beaten easy, but these "Kei" cars can still get the job done. In fact in GT2, the Midget D-type pickup (slowest GT race in history!) had stats that could put pure sportscars in shame. Don't believe me? Look at GT2 and read info on the machine.
Talk about small cars here.
