Mini Cup : race #2 final results

The Cup
A series of 6 races, in the New Mini Cooper-S (GT4).
Each race will be run as a hotlap on a specific track and will feature tyre restrictions.
Each race will last a whole week.
Drivers will be granted points depending on their fastest clean lap (replays welcome).
The overall winner will be the racer with the most points at the end of race #6.

Race #2
The last Arcade race will require a smoother driving than the previous events. The longest part of the track is on dirt, so youll have to be careful and keep enough grip on the front wheels.

Car : Arcade Mini Cooper-S
Gearbox : no restriction, automatic or manual
Driving aids : no restriction
Tyres : dirt
Quick tune : no tuning

Track : Cathedral Trail I
Arcade mode, Time trial, Dirt / snow.

Deadline : Tuesday, 12th April, 08:00am (GMT) - 00:00am (West Coast) - 03:00am (East Coast)

Ghost : 129.745
The ghost is the best clean lap of my first 5 laps session. It sets a reference time, so that you know how far (ahead) you are from the pace.

Rules

Driving rules : standard OLR rules
- 2 wheels on track at all times
- rumble strip is considered part of the track
- no hybrids or cheating of any kind
On the dirt section :
- grass and dirt are part of the track
- no contact at all with the invisible walls marking the track limit

Submission :
- practice as much as you want before deadline
- PM me (flat-out) your best clean lap (final time only)
- save and keep your hotlap replay
- you can submit only once per race

Thread rules :
- do not discuss final lap time
- do not discuss final sector time
- T times discussion is encouraged

Hi,
I had a quick go with the track(7-8 laps) and that's my T3 : 1'28.797, it's fun to drive the mini on a track like that

I'd never tried it before :crazy:

Dirt...Wow.

Didn't expect this. Interesting, Flat-out. I don't really have any experience with GT4 and the dirt, except for the licenses. This is gonna be fun, I think.

EDIT: Got some laps in. I hit a super clean T3 @ 1'28.308

This is an awsome car/course combo, Flat-Out. It was hard at first, because I was scared :scared:

and listened to the stupid down-shift indicator, because I didn't know the track. Now I just ignore the damn thing completely, and go all out. :eek:

I can't even say how much fun this is. Thanks for seting this up for us, Flat-Out.

I disliked the rally mode in GT3, I hate it in GT4. (Perhaps because I've been busy on the Special Condition events during the past week :lol:

)
Except in low power cars where trying to control the drift becomes funny.

To get a fast time on this course, It's either all or nothing. You have to be able to hold the throttle even when everything in your body tells you "BRAKES!!!"

Just like LDM has done...ouch, its gonna be tough to catch up. I need to almost make up a whole second to catch up.

did 5-8 laps and got a T2 of 1:31.xxx and gave up. This car just doesn't prove to be any fun to me. Good luck to everyone running this one. I might join you guys again when the GT mode races start if i can get the mini to handle more to my liking

That is a pretty good lap, with practice there may be a few more tenths but I think I am pretty happy with that for now. Time to move on to some other racing.

I ran 4 laps, with a best at 1'30.8xx. Just wasn't in a racing mood yesterday evening.
I don't expect to catch LDM on the dirt anyway, you guys can keep trying. It's like trying to catch Hugo on tarmac.

@Naude : the GT Mode Mini on racing tires will be very different from the Arcade Mini we've been using for races #1 and #2. Hope it will suit you better.

I finally ran a clean lap faster than my own stupid ghost

T1 = 20.624
T2 = 51.801
T3 = 1'29.344

Hopefully some more practice will bring this T3 down to a more respectable figure.
Board is updated, but not yet with Barbol's new time.

Board is updated with Barbol's time. Close racing again mates, except me and the ghost far behind.

CRAZY!

I've been running a few laps while trying to put in something half decent for the WRS and I haven't even been able to beat the ghost, never mind a CRAZY 1'26 ... I can't even comprehend how I'd gain THAT sort of time. WOW ... just WOW.

I'll be submitting later tonight, but I have no illusions of ever getting close to that sort of time. Color me impressed ... definitively want to see the replays from those times, because I am sure to learn a lot from them.

Okay, I'm submitting. I'm managing to shave 1.5 seconds off my time, and then I hit one of two corners (or BOTH!) and I lose it and possibly even more ... I just can't seem to get a good flow going and it's just proving frustrating

So, humbly, I submit my weakling time and look forward to seeing how it SHOULD be done

Sorry, I did not mean reveal it early. I just meant that you do not have to give me series points(If you are doing series points) as I am not running the other races.

I received all 7 submissions (er, 6, I didn't PM myself) and updated the boards on post #1.
Great lap Barbol, a pity you couldn't break under the 2'00.

Please post any replay in this thread, I'll do it myself tonight. (well, I hope).
