So, i bought a mini (the newer, 172hp one) to do the seasonal event in.

I did the race and only managed second first time. I noted the car was supposed to have 172 bhp but only listed as 165 in my garage, so i did an oil change and tried to get back into the race.

It wont let me because i have too much power. Apparently my mini now had 176bhp after the oil change (4hp more than book) so i couldnt re-do the seasonal.

I figured ill drive it a bit to try and get the power down (wear the engine i guess) and since then ive done the mini professional race 3 times and probably 10 b spec races in it, and it now apparently has 177hp!

What the hell? I have ZERO modifications on the car. What can i do to get the power back down? i dont want to have to buy another one just to win the seasonal event!

If GT5 is similar to GT4 you'd have to drive it for a couple of thousand miles to get the hp down again. In our quest for 200 A-spec point racess we ran cars for approx. 9000 miles to get it to rock bottom hp AND never changed oil.

On brand new 0.0 mile cars, the engine will start to produce more power once you start using it as the engine becomes ''run in''.

This process can take between 150 / 250 / 500 miles before the engine is fully run in.

If you want to increase your engine by a small amount (5-10bp) don't change the oil, as you won't know exactly how much more bhp this will give you. Instead, go to to TUNING and look at the various options available there as they will gve you a before and after (addding that part) total bhp figure.

👍

Thanks for the replies guys. I bought another mini, as its quite cheap, and i hated the car anyway and never intend on driving it again!

struggling like mad with the RX7 seasonal now but thats another story. I've tried loads of different setups (including ones from this site) and as soon as i even touch the accelerator the car goes sideways. I dont get it, i watch the replays on youtube of people driving it and im convinced theres something broken with my game or they arent using the setup they say they are. Mine wheelspins in 4th gear as soon as you give it ANY kind of steering.

Ill keep struggling on anyway, thanks for the tips here. Stupid on PD's part though really, making a one make race that cant be entered by the car you have to use because you changed the oil.

was gonna post a smart remark, but never mind; good luck with the game!

Someone say it's cheating, but try Skid Recovery:)

yeah see id prefer to not use skid recovery, i want to do it properly!

Its a shame because i own an RX7 myself, it has 350hp and its nowhere near as wheelspinny as my one in GT5!

What was the smart remark paulus? You cant say you were going to say something and not bother!

Well for a start, i had gearing set low for maximum acceleration. Instead it gave me maximum wheelspin! Is a little better now, but still cant break out of 1:03.xx...and you need 1:01's or below :(

Same here... I can't seem to get below the 1:02-1:03 range either - with the settings from this forum, even with SRF on. The corners are way too tight for the RX7 which handles like a petroleum tanker in this game. I'm using a DS3, by the way... perhaps using a wheel is a bit easier?

Im on a G25 mate. Got it down to 1:01's now but thats with SRF on. Without i cant do anything below a 1:03. seriously, if i turn the wheel and accelerate at all the car wheelspins and goes sideways.

46 seconds into this video, the long left. I cant do that even with SRF on. The way he is full power the whole way around. Without SRF the car just goes sideways, with it, it understeers off the track. I can never get into 5th there, im left feathering throttle in 4th...

Can i also just say...

They managed to get the colour of the stitching right on the gear stick of the Rx7 spirit R (in that video)

Yet they put bastardised M3 wheels on an M3 CSL.

:ouch:👎

By the way, you dont need 1:01's or below. You need below 1:00.5, I just did it where every lap pretty much was a 1:00.6+ and i was about 8 lengths behind the skyline at the end...
