While browsing fastest laps for Nurburgring I have noticed a sub 5 minute time posted by Rustye. Can anyone give me the logic on using snow tyres on a vehicle such as this on a track like this.
What is the practicle advantage you might get. I am only about 70% through the game and will "play around" more when I have completed the races, but this entry has kept me wondring?

UPDATE:
Over a week ahs passed and still no answer? :grumpy:
There is another post on Nburg with the minolta and snow tyres!
Come clean people, what sort of :sly: hack :sly: have you used? 👎
Be brave, my email remains unanswered.

If you would like to email the people who lodged these times we may be able to get an explanation. You can check out there time in fastest laps and email them from there. if enough people send maybe these guys will answer!

Yeah, I agree. As soon as I saw 'snow tyres' and 'Nurburgring' in your topic title, I realised how strange it presents itself.

is that even possible (snow tires on road tracks)? you cant use normal tires on rally tracks...

I suspect the Rustye simply has a good sense of humour, its just gotta be a joke...

As far as I know snow tires cannot be used on any tarmac races.

As far as I can remember, I don't even think that the Minolta can get snow tyres. If I'm wrong, then maybe you can because in the the family of Nurburgring, it does say that there is no restrictions on tyres. I know one thing, Im going to try it when I get home from work. 👍

The minolta can't have snow tires. The post was (hopefully) a joke. Can you imagine how mental you'd have to be to take a 900hp Class-C car out on snow and ice IRL? you're going to need some really big studs on those tires........and a death wish!

could be gameshark codes?

But in my experiece, Snow tires are absolutely horrendus on tarmac anyway, as observed on Chamonix...

I'm guessing it was just a mistake, considering that snow tires are right next to super soft on the list that you select from, easy slip of the mouse, no big.

they should make the snow tires spark when they hit the tarmac (such as on Chamonix) or on the whole N-ring

Ok So it looks as if the joke is on us so to speak.
So far no one thinks this is a bona fide time for entry as a fast lap.
Unless anyone can suggest that the lap may have been performed, maybe the administrator for this site might consider removing the entry?
Any more responses, Rustye are you there ? Is this a prank or have you added a new dimension to the game, I challenge you to respond :sly:

I have updated this query because there is another post of this sort in fastest laps and I still dont have an answer, any expert care to suggest?

People are vexing over this entirely too much... Its DEFINATELY either a joke, or just a slip of the mouse like jamezracer mentioned (with super softs intended to be selected). Lets give Ruste the benefit of the doubt and assume he used super-softs.

You cannot use snow tires on the 'ring.

It's confirmed. No snow tires, though you could try super softs.

It might be a longshot, but you could try to post this in the leaderboard forum. You'll get a response from the admins then.

Maybe you can use any tires in arcade mode? Just an idea. Can't check myself as I don't have acces to the game just now.

Sorry for the late reply, was testing my stockcar in prep for this season and haven't been at home.

Yes, this is Canada, and yes, we like snow tires, but no, and I repeat no, I did not use snow tires. The buttons are close, I used super softs.....and that was Gt Mode with nitrous.

Since then however, I have gone much faster in Arcade mode 4.53.897, but it is much easier to do that time in that mode with all aids on.

It is funny to notice the car is much faster with the aids off, but not quicker. It won't stop or turn....so I think the aids being on is the best.

To be honest I gave up in GT mode because it just crashed for no apparant reason and different parts of the track due to the unstablility at high speeds. Try as I might to tune it out, the best remedy seemed to be to restiffen the chassis and it was good for two or three laps....then junk again.

Plus with the nitrous, you had to do it on one lap, or restart the whole thing to get nitrous back.

I have posed the same challenge to Canadian Karters, and they have given me a good run for my money, especially a couple of current and former Formula BMW drivers. I won't list the forum name here as that is probably frowned upon.

Anyhow, sorry for any confusion and sorry for the late reply...

Now that the 'real' racing season is here, I have to get back to work in the F1-K/Cameronmotorsports/MMG Financial Dodge Charger......

good luck with your times, have fun.....

Thanks for clearing that up Rustye, have a great stock car season!
