Two of my drivers just did the European Championship (Extreme Series) B-Spec event and I noticed two Ford cars in the line up. Afterwards I noticed that the list of typical opponents even has Ford on it. Then I checked if it was possible to enter the event in a Ford but I couldn't even select Ford when accessing my garage from the European Championship event screen. Looks like Polyphony Digital made a mistake here. Anyone else noticed other events which got the car selection wrong like this?

Some Fords are made at UK.
Correct .
Ford may be US owned but both models are design buy Ford EU.
Ford US redesigned the focus with US only design models in 2007.
Ford US and EU Focus models were then merged to one standard in 2010

Gran Turismo doesn't distinguish between where cars are made. Only where the car manufacturers originate from. As I said, you can't enter the European Championship event in a Ford. So you're going a little off topic. :)

Please, buy an Escort Rally Car and see the flag in description... :sly:

Also, the Ford Falcon X8 race car is listed as Aussie.

There are others, like Lexus being allowed in the German race in Extreme series.

Its German rules NOT German Made.

German touring car championship .
Had Lexus, Ford, Alfa and even Hondas at points in its history.
Its the same as the Lambo diablo that entered in Japan GT.

Did you try using the exact same Ford that the AI was using, Nielsen? Otherwise you can't say for sure that no Fords are allowed in it.

It'd also help if you told us what Ford was it.

The Focus RS was in some European event. The cars the AI drives are probably on a hand-picked list, not something randomized by the same criteria you're restricted to. That's a UK car so there you have it.

Graphite I know that. I was just replying about the OPs topic, that it "seems" out of place.

Another curious one is letting the Bentley Speed 8 Race Car in the British Lightweight series. I know it's British, but again it's "out of place"...

Only the AI can do it, apparently. If it were the case, we'd be able to race Acura and Lexus in the Japanese championship.

He's not wrong. For some bizarre reason, PD have listed this classic British icon, the Mini, as German. PD need to fix this error in GT6 because it's very inaccurate, since the original Mini was designed, enginereed and built in Britain by British companies. (Morris, Austin and Rover.)

But there is no Mini with a German flag on it, is there?

With the hatchback series, you can enter with any car which is extremely unusual.

At least mini is not the worst since there is an explanation behind why its classified as German.

For some reason, all cars made by Infiniti and Scion, as well as most standard cars made by Lexus are classified as being American cars. Even though pretty much everyone know that these are subsidiaries of Japanese car makers.

that's probably because BMW owns mini and BMW is a german company

But it's still wrong because the logic of the Mini being German is inconsistent with the general logic PD has used in the past (i.e. where the parent company originated). By the same logic the Veyron should be German not French, Jaguars should be Indian not British, Aston Martins shouldn't be British either... Acura, Lexus and Infiniti should all be Japanese. Theres even an argument that Renault should be Japanese, though they're not strictly owned by Nissan.

Also, there wouldn't be any Australian cars in the game at all. Oh, Seat would be German too.

The Mini is an anomolie. There is a case for the new Mini as it is owned by BMW and designed/built in Germany, however the company originated in the UK so all Minis should be under that flag, as per usual.

EDIT: The whole concept that the AI has a wider range of cars to pick is ludicrous. I thought they fixed this after there were so many problems with it in GT4 i.e. the VW Nardo Concept and the Cadillac Cien were not allowed in the supercar event, the CLK GTR (Now correctly known as the CLK LM) was in DTM for some odd reason, and if I remember rightly, the Focus wasn't a valid car for the European hot hatch series even though the AI always used it. So they didn't fix this at all? Nice to know...

...And wouldn't Chrysler be Italian? :sly:

That's probably because BMW are a bounch of bavarian a******s pretending to change the flag of a such an iconic british car like Mini. I wonder why Lamborghini even being part of Audi group didn't shared a german flag. Seems like Audi managers are more clever, or maybe they just drink less beer. :sly:

Yeah... Introducing the Fiat Chrysler Cacca. 👍

Originally those manufactuers were only sold in america.

The Bentley Speed 8 is in the lightweight because it's under 1200 kg(or something like that). You can also use the McLaren F1.

Fiat owns 53.5 of the shares in Chrysler, so it's still American--- not that I really care as they haven't built a good car in over 20 years. AND they wont let the Fiat 500 in to the market.

The Fiesta would also be a good example of the Focus being European. The Fiesta and the Focus were built in Europe years before they moved over, sometimes under different names.

If we wanted to be technical, some cars, aren't actually built in the country that designed them, owns them, or a combination of the three. So does it really matter? Maybe not.

And, since when does PD's identifications make 100% sense? I've been used to this since the original--- Old hat.
