Do any of you ever have the manual transmission skip gears on you? I've been wondering about this.

Like, if I'm downshifting from 5th to 4th, it'll jump down to 3rd instead. It does it when I'm upshifting too.

I don't know if it is programmed into the game for a little more realism, if my controllers are messed up, or if my fingers are just to twitchy. But when I'm running at the limit, this can actually send me flying off the road. :banghead:

Whaddya guys think? Part of the game, faulty equipment, or ****ty driving?

I've never had it skip a gear on me, but I know I have inadvertently shifted, especially downshifting, one more gear than I wanted to. It's twitchy fingers.
 
lol.. 4 vote for bad driver.. It might be that for you, shifting has become automatic, that you don't even realize that you have shifted.
 
Yeah, I had a feeling when I was making this poll, that it would be a 100% landslide for #3.

I had this problem with GT2 one day; somehow, a sliver of almond got jammed into the controller's L2 botton, and it kept downshifting. I couldn't figure it out until I'd finished a 5-lap race in a Cerbera LM in dead last.

Heh, no more eating around the PlayStation.

i think its the game because it hops to 5th from 3rd for me most of the time, but now i use the logitech wheel so i have paddle shifters.
 
I only mis-shift when I bounce off the rev limiter when I'm not paying attention on the straight.
 
Driving, mostly - I do it all the time, in both upshifting and downshifting. Hell, one time my fingers were so bad that I went for a 2-to-3 upshift and landed in 5!

It's just caused by slightly retracting your fingers after lifting off from a shift, and if the button is hit at the correct angle, it'll send the signals with very little contact.
 
Never happened to me...sometimes it happens when I'm really twitchy though, so it's probably that, and you're just not noticing it.

Aaarrrgggghhhh! What happened!?! You guys ruined my 100% poll. I thought for sure that it was going to be a 100% vote for "Bad Driver". :lol:

It happens the opposite to me. With the Poly 001 when downshifting gears I hit the L2 several times but the gearbox spends too much time to change gears (IMO) and the car is in 3rd instead of 2nd (for example).
