Just reached 120 car limit, got silver chrome paint notification. But its not in with all my other paint chips. Filtered by 'chrome' texture and 'gran turismo' make, and its absoloutly not there. Had recently backed up my save to a memory stick within last half hour, so reloaded it as ive never got a chome paint before and didnt want to throw it away. This time round got a matte green, and again its not there.

What gives? Any suggestions?

Took me a while to get that you were referencing the multiples of 30 cars in your garage for a special paint chip reward. But if the paint chip is not there then the only way to get it is to get it rewarded again (another 30 cars), or via a gift.

I suggest getting 29 cars, then saving that to a USB and just restore should you not get the paint you want when you buy the next one.

120 car limit? What?
 
Sorry, didnt make myself clear. As kuyaglen above you realised, what is i meant i had got to 120 cars (a multiple of 30) and was therefore rewarded with a paint. Which didnt get added to my collection.
 
The same has happened to me yesterday. 570 cars in garage, Silver Chrome as a reward, but it's nowhere to be found....
 
Did you accept a paint colour first then decided to reload and try for the "chrome" paint .? I ask this as i reloaded an old file with an unused paint chip .. But by then my garage had exceed the amount on the old save file. I loaded until i got "gold chrome" only to find i too could not find it.
I tried a few times and got gold ,only not to find it anywhere again. So i decided to load my current game and buy some wrecks from the ucd until i got another paint chip. I loaded till i got gold chrome and this time it appeared. I can only conclude that once you accept the first paint colour from the chip it is logged on PD's server. So you will get acknowledgement you have a different colour but for some reason you do not get the paint chip. Maybe PD have wised upto to this trick too and implemented registering your progress on thier servers. The same applies if you get 30 cars accept the paint colour and then sell a car and buy a car again , it does not give you a different free paint chip, it seems to know you have already had one !
 
You don't actually need a USB stick when your Paint Chip and Horn message appears for multiples of 30 cars (though a backup in advance is always a wise idea).

When the pop-up message saying you have a Paint Chip and Horn is on the screen and before clicking OK, Quit the game. Reload GT5. Repeat the Quits and Reloads until you get a Paint Chip you like.

I used that method and the first time it took ages to get a Gold Chrome though I saw a couple of Silver Chromes while I was trying. Second time it was within half a dozen reloads.
 
Fair enough. Cheers guys, will just have to chalk this one up as a fail, and wait til the next 'special paint' chip comes up at 150. :-)
 
I've been given a Black Matte which never showed up in my paint can store. PD giveth, and PD taketh away...
 
Well, this explains a lot now. I could have sworn that I've gotten a couple of chrome and matte paints throughout my game play, though I've never actually properly looked through my colors. When I checked my paints the other day, and restricted colors to either matte or chrome, there's nothing, nothing at all. Not a single matte or chrome color.
