Mitsubishi MiEV at Nurburgring, will batteries last?

Ok, there we go:

Mitsubishi MiEV. The super kettle.
Nurburgring. The lord of the Rings.

I an seriously starting to think about an endurance race -engine volume off and loud music on- with this "car" now PD has make me discover, and as the seasonal event can be done with 13 seconds diference all stock, maybe not all hopes are lost.

Has someone already tried this?
Can many laps be done before charging batteries?
How is the "refueling" action done? DO I have to wait a couple of hours till batteries are fully charged? Does a Duracell bunny change them?

I am quite intrigated... :sly:
 
I'm interested about the refuelling process as well.

In real life the car is supposed to last 100-200 miles depending on how you drive but i got it nearly half way down in my 5 lap deep forest race. I think it might just make it but it would be cutting it fine
 
Did the I-MiEV season event, which was about 7-8 minutes, and survived on a little over half charge.

Not sure how long it would take to get around the 'Ring though.
 
My friend did it... what happens is that out of nowhere in the carousel, your car stops and a movie plays. An Energizer bunny comes up to the car and sits in the passenger seat and recharges it. Then once it gets out of it, you run it over and steal its drum and mallets.

No, the recharging is by braking and letting go of the gas. I THINK that it is the same as the Prius. When you do the two actions there are rotors that generate electricity from the axle.

The brake rotors have nothing to do with the recharging system on a Prius.
 
I don't mean the rotors, there are separate generators.
 
An electric motor is essentially a generator. If the car is rolling off throttle, the motor is generating current
 
I'll try it tonight, but in theory with the generators running off the brakes, you should be able to make a full lap.
 
The Tesla lasted about 3 laps of Nur before stopping. I would assume that the MiEV would last a bit longer.
 
I thought the motor in a Prias was more to charge the battery and/or as a back up if the battery is low? Or both?

The Tesla is full time electric so it needs to be plugged in a wall... how would pits work??? Surely battery changes wouldn't be practical... Heavy and VERY hazardous...
 
Off topic a little, but Duracel is the copper top.

Energizer is the bunny.

And no, he doesn't change your battery ;.;
 
I would love to see the person in the pits with the gas can just standing there scratching his head when you pull in. That or holding an extension cord.

They both use bunnies... Depends where you live in the world as to which one is the 'proper' one.

Back to topic... I tried to test the MiEV but the high pitched piercing sound did my head in after 1 lap of the 'Ring... Used nearly ¼ of the battery so 4 laps x 13miles = 52 miles range I guess.
 
Just pitted the i-Miev and the fuel guy just stood there staring at me with the can on the ground next to him... i felt bad :(

Really? That would be a cool attention to detail as I wouldn't be surprised if he proceeded to "refill" the car and just have a chuckle about it and never noticing it again...
 
Just ran the tesla out of batteries... It wouldn't go quicker then 50mph and when I pitted, despite holding the can (unlike with the I-miev) the fuel guy didn't fill me up. I drove out of the pits at 50mph... You can not refil an electric car In gt5.

i wish he poured gas down the drain, and broke that car, doing everyone a favor.
 
Slightly related, has anyone went back and forth between part and full throttle rapidly with the Prius G '09? It seems if you do it above speeds of 70 MPH, if you do it a few times, the battery indicator shows it as charging the batteries and the engine gets a bit louder.
 
As far as I could make out, the range of the i-MiEV appears to be around 30 miles which is probably pretty accurate for hammering the batteries for that distance. This is the same range as the Citroen GT Concept.
