MLG is hosting their Chicago event on June 19. Registration cost is $25, and first place gets $500, minimum. More info on the event can be found at http://www.chitownmayhem.com/index.php, although it is slightly out of date. The day schedule is tentative, and new rules which implement sub-classes are in the process of being finalized. If you get the word out to enough people, the prize money might get boosted. I'll also try to show up with GT4 Prologue (and Concept, if I can get it working) and a Driving Force Pro wheel for demoing.

We at MLG have also looked at the feedback you gave for what you wanted in a live tournament, and will do our best to make this the best event possible.

Just thought I'd put a heads-up out here...

I'm planning on coming, and I'll be bringing my Driving Force Pro wheel along (But I'll use the DS/2 for the tournament).

If you are going to do the sub-class thing it would be nice to get the classes and tracks posted asap so we can figure out what cars we are going to use. I still think totally random cars is the better way to go as it's a more complete test of overall driving skill, but it's not my comp so I'll shut up and just be happy to get to finally do some I-Linking:cool:

Is a steering wheel mandatory?

I'm very interested in joining.

CFMan: We have to get the rules finalized before we can release the classes and tracks, but I'm trying to get that done as soon as possible. And we're still experimenting with tournament rules & stuff, so we might use random cars in the future, but not now.

placebo: A steering wheel is not mandatory. You can use any controller that doesn't have button macros, turbo functions etc.

We're going to try to improve our wheel support for this one, but you might want to think about bringing your own stand just in case.

Thanks for the info Sven. I'm only bringing the wheel along in case there is a rally race. I haven't had it long enough to be as fast as I am with the DS/2 yet. But I'm better with it on the dirt.:D

Placebo: If you are able to get to Chicago you should come. I would think there will be some extra racing going on for fun when the brackets are not going on. Besides, who could resist a full day of racing GT3 head to head:trouble:

There is going to be at least 1 rally race, and there will also be plenty of downtime for exhibition races (I believe some 6-player iLinks are in order ;) ).

I plan on being there with all my iLink stuff so we can race 6way. Hopefully I will have one or two more iR members with me when I get there ;)

Carbon Fiber man: I live in chicago, i'll definately be there!

Looking forward to lots of driving:trouble:

I've been to south bend, nice town.

I'm eager to see how i stack up to chi-town's finest GT3 players!

Does anyone have any specifics on what type of t.v. or monitor even the game is going to be played in? We will be standing or sitting? All the small things i'm just curious about.

The updated rules with sub-classes and tracks are posted on the chitown site! Check it out and get practicing!

Placebo: The TVs will most likely be 32" Wegas, if not bigger. You can be as close as you want, and they let you fiddle with TV settings to adjust the picture to your liking. You'll be sitting to play, but there's not really much telling what kind of chairs or seats there'll be.

Class selection looks good, and pretty good track choices also...must get practicing now;)

FYI, discounted hotel rates end on June 4, so reserve your rooms before then if you're going!
