Hi everyone... I know nothing about mod chips, so I'm not about to go and solder on a circuit board into my PS2... so I looked around and found a mod chip that doesnt require you to open the case... here's the link:

http://www.modchip.com/ps2/slidecard.htm

However, I'd like to know if it works well and if anyone knows exactly how it works? For example, where does the chip insert into, and whats the process to use it so I can play an import game.

To be more specific to help out any of you who might be answering my questions, I want to get the UK release of GT4: Prologue, which is, of course, in a PAL format. So, basically, all I really need to know is if this game will work with this mod chip and how it works.

Thanks,

Todd

I happen to have one of those slide cards. It's not a modchip but it allows you to play import games.
I would recommed you get a mod chip instead of this cause you could damage your PS2 if you don't use this method correctly. Also the slide card is a very thin piece of plastic wich easily breaks.
Read how it works:

Thanks a bunch for replying. I gotta tell you, i thought it was just something you put into your memory card slot or something, but all that sliding back and forth and swapping every time I wanna play GT4:P, which is actually going to be the only game I play? No thanks lol. Okay, well what about the no-solder modchips? are those any good? The point is that i might be willing to open up the PS2 with very clear instructions on how to do it, but i will not do any soldering.

any recomendation on which site to buy a mod chip from? anyone have any bad experiences with any?
I want to get a mod chip but don't know which store to get it from? which is safest and most reliable?

thanks in advance

What about a flip-top case?

I dont have a link handy, but it seems to me that if one were interested in playing import games, this would be the way to go.
