Shouldn't RX-7 A-spec base downforce be 0.24 / 0.35, like TRD 3000GT? Since both RMs have max of 0.76 / 1.01

It's currently set up to match the highest-performance FD RX-7 as that was the safest way to get close to what may have been intended for it. I can always tweak the values in later versions if I think they need it though.

Is there more progress on this?

Yes, but nothing to show off really. My focus is on research and tooling to make it possible to apply the mod to all three versions of the game without having to effectively make three separate mods. My time is limited though, and split between this, GT2+, and other projects. GT1+ is a relatively low priority as it didn't get a lot of interest but I've already ticked off a lot of what I wanted to achieve with it, so I'm working on it for my own satisfaction more than anything else.

Whatever you do regarding GT1 is greatly appreciated. With its industrial vibe, GT1 is an outlier compared to its jazzy themed sequels. Just the Western dealership music already tops any music from the sequels. The campaign and car selection are pretty basic (compare to the later games) but the car focus is much better than the sequels.

i also always loved the grittiness of the GT1, goes well with SSR11 industrial zone and more washed out colours.
Exactly, the warm colors introduced in GT5 onwards (but especially visible in Sport and GT7) make modern GT look cartoony compared to GT1.

well, GT1 is done with only 4096 colours, whereas now KAz is blown away with trillions :D
I don't think that's correct since games with only 4096 colors look vastly different. PS1 displayed 16.7 million colors and GT1 used basically all of them.

It's about the visual style and the color tone. GT1 had unique aesthetics that made it look much more serious (and better) than any other GT. You described it well with "grittiness". It was a unique time and a unique set of circumstances and we will never get a game like this again. Maybe if we develop some superhuman AI that gives us custom games, then I will commission an extended GT1 release :))

even if playstation could display that amount, it was not used fully. I am sure i ve read somewhere that GT1 only used 4096 colours

GT1 most definitely isn't limited to 4096 colors.
However most graphics used in the game are 4 or 8 bit indexed, meaning for any single image, that might use up to either 16 colors, or 256.
Car textures use up to 16 16-color palettes to paint the whole car, so a total of potentially up to 256 colors. Menu backgrounds use a single 16-color palette for their images (hence the pronounced color crunching on most of them). Track textures are also 16-color palettes. However, certain elements of the game, like skyboxes, use completely RGB values, s they can use the full 16 million color range if they want to.
I think the 4096 figure might be an estimate of how many colors are actually realistically used whenever something is drawn on the screen simply because a lot of elements will use a small amount of shades, but it's not a hard limit or anything.

I meant exactly that

I would absolutely love this. I like replaying the first GT because the little less daunting than 2. The first one is so underrated, I hope we get to see something soon 😁

hey man im honestly very interested in your GT1 mod as the game just felt a bit raw on my first playthrough. is there anyway this mod would work with the NTSC version?

Not currently - GT1 has some technical differences between the different regions which need to be solved to get the same mod to work on each of them, so I chose PAL for the initial version as it has multi-language support.

Are these technical differences hardcoded? Will they be solved anytime soon?

Appreciate your reply, thanks for all the work you put into this mod. Hopefully this mod doesn't cause you too much trouble

Some of the file formats are different and the number of cars varies, probably a mix of handling it in tooling and figuring out how to change some hardcoded things. I wouldn't expect much for a good while, I'm not actively working on GT1+ currently as I have plenty to do for the next GT2+ version and not enough time.

I wonder when Gran Turismo 1998 Plus mod Will release? Will it be next year??
