Hi,

I realize bringing this up may cause me problems here. I will try to tread delicately.

There are a couple of threads right now where moderators are airing their public laundry with specific members of the community publicly. I would post links. However, my intention is not to draw attention to specific individuals. Rather, I'd like to make a general statement and hope that it matches the expectations of those who run this site.

Moderators are held at a higher standard. They are the stewards of the content here. And since they have to wade through all the nonsense on a daily basis, they know better than most what constitutes a good post and what does not. They also have full access to all the tools to handle situations privately.

So with that in mind, I'd like to respectfully ask that moderators remember how important their role is to the value of the site. And I hope in the future, more of these pissing matches can be handled privately. Arguing about what is harassment by mods and non-mods is off topic. People wanting to discuss that should discuss that in an appropriate forum, not in a GT6 thread, for example. Non-mods who continue to argue about how the site is administered should be reminded privately that there is a place to air their grievances but to stay on topic in the threads, imho.

Again, I'm not trying to be anti-mod here or a know-it-all. I'm just trying to help.

Sincerely,

Michael Schaefer
