This is without a doubt one of the coolest things ever. The detail, scale, and size of this little world is unlike anything I have seen before! I've always been a junkie for miniatures since I was little, and this is like a childhood dream come true! Be sure to check out ALL the pages of this gallery - don't miss the fully functional interstate highway, railroad system, airport, shipping lanes (with locks), and some kind of racetrack. You have to see it, it's just so darn cool!

Apparently, it's called Madurodam, in the Netherlands. Have any of our European members ever actually visited this place?

Solid Lifters
I've been there several times. It's awesome. 👍
No way! Do all the cars and planes really move? How fast are they? Does it light up at night?

Yes, the planes move. They even make jet noises. Some ships move, too. Some cars, but not all. Actually, don't remmeber if the cars move at all. It was twenty years ago the last time I went. The airport was the coolest, IMO. The sounds of the jets, and not just one jet, were very acurate.

Some stuff is brand new, like the sea walls you pointed out. That was recently built, so of course they had to reproduce it at Madurodam.

I think the park closes at night, so no litghts. But, that could be different now. The lights on the planes work, though.

Edit: The football stadium has crowd noises. The crowd cheers softer, then louder. Pretty neat stuff. I can't really remember anything else.

Oh, the planes only taxi, at really slow speed, but it's acurate for their size.

Most amazing of all: It's all outdoors, fully exposed to the sun, and whatever the weather might throw at it. Normal weathering is going to take a heavy toll on it, so there's got to be considerable maintenance required.

This isn't a build-it-once-and-occasionally-dust-it operation.

That looks so dam cool.

Ive been to a simalair one in the UK, not as big i dont think but just as spectacluar, il try and find it for you.

I went there when i was a kid. It looks a lot better now than it was then. The only thing that detracts from the 'Lilliputian' feeling is the fact that its so busy with other 'giants' wandering around with you. If you could look around on your own it would be weird.

Legoland in Billund, Denmark, has a MASSIVE miniature lego world. You can only see it all clearly from about 150 feet, which is lucky as there's an observation platform that high.

Lego Land's also very cool....

...not that i spent all my childhood holidays in north european minature villages! :)

Yup, the miniature world in Legoland is a lot of fun – probably my favorite part of the themepark. :)

So these are stops worth looking into for my Europe trip in May?

I am also like Jordan, I am obessed with this sort-of stuff. I guess it falls under the type of toys we grew up with. Lego's being one of the key items.

The Miniland in Legoland Windsor is pretty cool!

Thats awesome. I've seen some cool HO scale model rail roads with lights and SOME moving parts, but a whole city that moves? Thats crazy.

I've been to Legoland Windsor, and the miniatures there are awesome. I love how all the signs and statues and stuff in the entrance/exit are all made of legos.

Madurodam really is nice to visit. You'll find mostly everything that The Netherlands is famous for in a scale of 1:25. There's a lot of activity with the plains, cars, trains and boats moving. About 4.5 km's of railroad lays around the park, quite impressive! The level of detail of every object there is simply astonishing :scared:

I live at about 15 km's from Madurodam, but it's quite a while since I've been there for the last time :O
