Modifing the AUP to include PSN Maintence threads?

I will admit that with the LulzSec attack on Sony servers all over the world last year has plenty of Playstation gamers scared about the next attack from hackers.

However, I am sick and tired of threads in the Console and PC Gaming forum being created saying in one form or another that PSN is down. And they are becoming as frequent (when Sony does basic maintence) as In Before Lock posts around other forums.

I'm asking the administration of this site to do something about it. As I see it, the need to broadcast Sony maintence should be done on one thread, the PS3 General Thread, and no other. Complaint threads about PSN being down should be locked immediately.

I'd rather them add something about wishlist threads, but I don't think the AUP needs more rules. I think the rules are just fine as it is. If I can't get on PSN, I would like to know why as well.
 
PSN shutdown threads are different because Sony usually announces them a couple of days to a week ahead of time. If people are not smart enough to read the Playstation Blog for their region and suddenly go, "Ah, my precious PSN is down, is it Anoynomus?" they deserved to get their thread locked tighter than a drum. I'm not saying make it a bannable offense, but put it in the AUP to warn them by saying that we are not going to tolerate spaming the forums on one particular topic.

Really, that is all these threads are, spam.
 
Just report them, and let the staff deal with it. Otherwhise the entire GT5 section with all it's wishlist threads should get a completely separate AUP.
 
The problem is, a forum is where we permit everyone to say whatever they feel like, so as long as it doesn't violate the rules, step on anyone's toes, or duplicate useless information. Some of what you're asking about falls under "useless posts", and we don't hit members with infractions or warnings for that unless there's a rash of poor-quality posts.

We all have the ability to ignore posts by discretion, although the manner in which technology has unfolded in the past 15-20 years means everyone wants to be the first post any information...in a competitive, testosterone-laced environment regarding an automobile racing simulator, this isn't terribly surprising.
