I want to know about some mods of the G27 wheel.

I am planning to change the gear knob and the shifter boot of the shifter...
but question is is the momo boot capable for the g27 one?? Besides, i am willing to know is there any after market products of a g25/g27 shifter panel ( the shift panel like the ferrari and lambos), if not is there any memeber in gtplanet got this kind of panel made by DIY.

a pictures i had copy from this forum.

Best regards
Shaun

I just took apart my G25 shifter last night and the boot and knob would be an easy replacement. Prob something that would have to be custom made though since the knob is held on by a screw. But I think there are shift knobs out there that can be screwed on from the side with little Allen screws. The boot would have to be custom stitched I know chilicoke did something like this for his check his site just google chilicoke. As far a shift gate like a ferrari or lambo goes I haven't seen anything like that myself but I'm sure it could be custom made too if you have the knowledge to fabricate something like that.

thx alot, this really help me, but still got a question also about the steering section, but just wanna ask about, do the logitech got warranty for 1 year in the US? if yes is it possible to take it back for a routine check before the warranty end and free of charges too

I would just call Logitech and ask them. I think the g25/g27 are pretty reliable though I've had my g25 for over 2 years now and it still works like day 1 (knock on wood).

No, you can't send it in for a check up. And yes, cracking it open to "mod" it will void your warranty, so waiting until you're out of warranty is probably smart.

Be sure you check out the chilicoke adapter ring as well, put a full size wheel on that bad boy.

really like a described it as bad boy xdd!!
yaaa, i had think about getting a OMP or a momo mod 88 onto it, and some after market suede shift boot and gear knob into it too, but a prob about the steering is...any ways to connect back the wheel buttons after i've changed the wheel??

the shift panel like the ferrari and lambos

greetings, shaun.

i presume you're referring to a gated shifter?

not sure you'd want to do that with something like this. it might just be my own personal taste, but gated shifters don't seem very conducive to quick shifts. instead, i felt a bit more restricted when using one.

bingo, but no juts cancelled out the shift gate...still wanna know do the after market shift boots are capable with the g27??caz it looks oversize comparing to the G27's

I have a bloke making me a custom F1 wheel for my G27-with an SLI-PRO and a couple of buttons, should be sick. Will post progress pictures as they come.

That sounds awesome, this I gotta see!

As for the buttons on the G27... you can wire them into the horn buttons some cheaper aftermarket wheels have I'm sure... I guess cool for NOS on a street racing game... but myself, I don't like my wheel full of buttons (my MOMO in my car don't have no buttons!) so I'm fine losing them. An F1 wheel tho, they belong full of buttons!

I don't know about those knobs, but it'll fit any knob that tightens from the side is what I understand.

Dont get a flat base wheel. It really does take away alot of function. Plus the mod 88 looked retarded in person haha! shift knob and boot are easy so is the wheel and new paddels. If you open it up you could probs wire the little buttons the clickers hit 2 the solid point and have non rotating paddels. but thats alot of work. and its not worth it. In fact its really not worth modding the wheel. Most the stuff you do 2 a g27 fanatec have stock in the high end wheels. :S Mod list is simple but its all money and time..

Bigger wheel.
Adaptor plate
Wheel
Bigger paddels
Button board for behind wheel
Buttons and wiring 2 go with it
New Shifter New shifter
New boot (or same)
Finding a way 2 get it 2 not slide around bec thats a real... ...
Pedals Perfect pedal or the rubber or anything like that 2 the brakes
Stronger clutch spring (maby from brake)
Up side down mounting
Handbrake mod. Handbrake thats got a built in handbrake light switch
Wiring it all up
Shifter. More resistance getting into reverse
More resistance shifting gear

Theres alot more that can be done but i think thats the basic stuff people do.

actually i don;t care about the buttons on the wheels... so u mean all knobs that used alien screw from the side will be capable??

Well i don't know, you should just avoid the ones that are made of (or contain) metal. Most websites don't show the weight, so if i were you i'd go directly in a shop ;)

AMS has delrin shift knobs..........if there is enough interest I would run a few on my CNC lathe.

Someone wants to discuss custom parts, pm me. . . I dont advertise nor do I really want to, but considered a knob myself. So if there is a few others I would write the program and get material. If more after, then someone will need to be the retailer. I do not do that. I make parts.

You can try re-tapping the thread on the G27 shifter as I did. Then put on any shift knob of your choice (here's mines in the picture with a buddy club knob)

I personally have this ACR knockoff http://www.ebay.com/itm/03-07-NISSA...Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr#ht_5577wt_754

Added weight is always good. What about the resistance you may ask? The resistance on G27 shifter is already garbage so I could care less. This shifter runs bigger than the G27 so what I did is wrap the knob with teflon tape so I can screw it with the locking nut provided. If you don't know what is a teflon tape, just google it and go to your hardware store. Shouldn't cost you more than 3 dollars.
