I was wondering what the difference between response times for Black/White and Grey/Grey is? I'm pretty sure my current LCD (quite old) has a response time of 16 or 24ms, and I feel that it's not too good for gaming.

Anyway, I was looking at buying one of the larger Dells (24" or 27") and they have 8ms for G/G and 16ms for B/W. Would these kinds of response rates be as noticeable as my current for gaming?

I have a Dell 2407WFP (24" widescreen) and I use it for gaming (PS2/Xbox 360) and it works perfectly. No ghosting or blurriness at all. Highly recommended. 👍

How do you like the picture on your dell? I find my PS2 looks like crap hooked up via component. I find it way to sharp and the image is just bad compared to my grand wega that it was hooked up to before.

I've tried different settings but can't get it to look good.

I was wondering this earlier myself:

I eventually bought the dell 20" and I use it for gaming. I think it looks great. No ghosting or anything like that. My PS2 doesn't look so hot, but I use s-video and I'm convinced that the s-video doesn't look any worse on the flat panel than it does on my TV. I think flat panels work best in native resolution, anything outside of that I've found doesn't tend to be the best quality.

Thanks for the responses guys. Gaming was my main concern, and now that I don't have to worry about that I'll probably be picking up a 24 inch soon (Once I say goodbye to my $1099 :().

The picture is excellent. The only games I play on the PS2 are Guitar Hero 2 and Ace Combat 5. GH2 I could care less about the graphics since it's just a pre rendered fret board and moving dots. Ace Combat looks ace though ( :sly: ).

Playing in 1080i on the 360 (and 1080p as soon as 1080p games are released) looks amazing. I absolutely love it. :)

I converted $1099AUD to USD and you are paying $862 for the 2407WFP. That's over $100 more than what I payed for it... :odd:

Yeah, it's that price...and that's with $300 AUD off the retail price! Unless you go wholesale (a non-option with Dell monitors unfortunately) technology prices are fairly inflated here.

 That's crazy! Are you sure you can't find one for whole sale price (or at least the price in the US) on Ebay or something? There's a lot of electronics resellers that have their own business on ebay.

Even this one which is 589$US on eBay. Will cost 277$AUD to ship over with Fedex, so while you might save a hundred bucks or so, I'd prefer to pay that then trust a 24" LCD going undamaged coming from the US, especially with no warranty.

The cheapest Aussie one I could find is $1000, but again, that's used and 99 extra dollars probably isn't that much when you're paying 1099 anyway.

I've got a Dell 2407FPW. The response time is supposed to be 12 or 16ms black to black and 8ms grey to grey I think.

Anyway, I've had no issues with ghosting. I've had it for about 8-9 months now. Compared to my old 17" CRT or my other 17" LCD which has 12ms black to black, it's just as good if not better.

I play mostly PC games on it. Live For Speed in really good on it.

Some pictures.
