Hello everyone!

I finally got painted my home made racing cockpit.
One day i just suddenly started to build it with no plans or anything from the stuff i found in my garage, It took overall about 3 days to build it.
I´m pretty happy from the result, it´s my first ever racing cockpit so the driving jumped for the whole new level for me!:)

here´s some pics --> http://tomipietola.kuvat.fi/kuvat/Omat+jutut/Ajokaukalo/

You built that in 3 days from scraps lying around and with no plans? That is an awsome looking rig, I wish I could have something like that. Great job.👍

Edit: And welcome to GTPlanet.

YES A FORD GUY lol. Looks great. You should make more and sell them, as long as the stickers weren't on them.

That is bad ass, I love the details on the front, well thought out, and professional looking, good job. It seriously looks better then 90% of the retail ones.

Nice work! I am always so impressed with peoples skill and imaginations when it comes to their creations. That front end style is unique!

May I ask what the base started life as. Looks like an inground pool ladder. Only reason I ask is I have an old ladder lying around and thought it would make a nice start to a rig.

Nice work!

When you said 'stuff I found in the garage', I wasn't expecting that! Great job! 👍 :)

Compact, neat and very professional. There's a few manufacturers that could learn from that. Look's like it would pass a crash test as well! Would that mount take a bigger screen if needed?

Welcome aboard... you'll never leave! ;)

Thanks for the nice words, i appreciate it!

The main body is made just from straight tube, i bend it myself at the tube bender i had bought for making some rollcages.

well i suppose it could have little bigger screen on it, i bought 23" because it´s about same width as the bucketseat so it can be placed near the wall if needed.
The screen can be turned in the side, i made it for my kids so they can play their own games in better view.:)

Only things i have to bought for the rig were the paint, stickers and those little wheels in the front to help the moving.
Maybe you noticed that one bicycle got executed for the screen adjustment!:D
I also used some cable rack and old battery pipes for it, the seat sliders are from Ford Sierra, i just used everything i found and improvised.💡

uhh ohh, a bicycle died, -so sorry ;)
Great job, I really like how you improvise from stuff lying around...

Thanks!:)

Hmmmm.. somebody wrote earlier that i should make some rigs and sell them.
Been thinking that, but i guess there would be a broblem at the delivery costs because of the weight.. it could be done a little lighter (thinner) materials and maybe some bolt joints for getting it in smaller package.

Well maybe i do first one quite similar and see can i sell it for someone local racer here in Finland.

What would you think to be reasonable price for it if you don´t count the bucket seat in it?

I don't want to sound like a douche but almost any rig (without the seat) can hardly be worth more than 50 euros (paint included).
Seat is the most expensive part on every rig (unless someone goes mad and adds carbonfiber or some other exotic materials).

Maybe you´re right, but couple of days earlier i saw a Playseat-rig at the shop and i think the seat was quite wobbly if you compare it to the real racing seat and still it costs about 370Eur.
I think these would be just as good and you can get 2 seats from 129.79 Euros.

I assume that Playseat´s seat is made in china and i don´t think it cost over 300Eur and the rest would cost about 50eur in the rig?

:scared: I spend already 20 euros for the paint and stickers and the price for the tube that i used in the main frame is about 8e/meter + the other materials..
And should you get payed from the work too, it took quite some time to make that front end and adjustable pedals etc.
In this area the welding and assembly will cost about 40-50eur/hour if you take it in the workshop.

If somebody will do it for 50eur, i personally would by one for me!;)

I would never spend that crazy amounts people pay for commerical rigs, period. BUT...if I did, I would buy the one FOMOCO made. LOL that things is awesome. Looks and function.

Damn I wish knew how to weld.

I'm liking this. I may have access to a bunch of steel electrical conduit, along with a manual bender.... I might just have to try something similar only bolting it together, since I don't have a welder.
