I think we could use some more emoticons (AKA: Smilies)... I frequent another forum which has a rather large library of these little guys, and I think we could use a few more here (although I have no specific requests or suggestions :dunce: ). Not a crazy amount, just enough to have some fun with and possibly be able to communicate with each other more effectively.

So what do you think?

Ahh... I should have searched for 'smilies', not 'emoticons'... sorry!

Still, it'd be nice if they were all nice and handy to use, or maybe we could have the ability to import the smilies we use most often into the little 'Smilies' side menu thingy.

Bookmark the page. That is what I did. I ended up not using them very often after not too long.

Yeah, smilies/emoticons go through phases. Jordan's put in a decent set, but the huge panel of them that we used to have just ended up getting overused, so he trimmed it back to what we have now. Too many smilies make a post hard to read.

Gotta love the dancing banana.

Sometimes when you post on internet forums it's not easy for people to see where you are coming from and posts can be taken in the wrong context. Smilies help greatly in this matter and can avoid a lot of unnecessary missjudged conflict.

Too many smilies and you run the risk of posts becoming as unreadable as hieroglyphics.

Is it possible to request a smilie?

I'd like one to reflect my mood when I'm feeling

:/

about something. I use that face a lot (almost too much on MSN and MySpace) and it would be nice for me to have something to represent it.

I carefully selected the smilies currently on our list by narrowing them down to commonly expressed emotions. I've been pretty satisfied with the list so far, and I don't currently have any plans to update it. But, if there is a lot of support for a "new emotion" with a smiley that is stylistically similar to the others, I will always consider it. :)

We need a disgust kind of Emoticon. Like with his hand going up to his face, and shaking his head.
