More realism?

Wouldn't it be great to have more realism? so why not have the ability to blow your engine up if you don't care overreving, or that time actually advances (not 24h races with daylight all the time), weather conditions that change. Also that the track is affected by the cars driving over it, like tire tracks oil slicks where an engine blew...
Since GT is about realism, why not fix these little problems?

What's really important for me personaly is more realistic driving physics. Much more sim-like than before.

I want to wrestle with the weel trying to control my Ruf CTR2 or TVR Speed 12 etc. 👍

I agree about how tracks should change during a race.

The engine blowups (and damage for that matter) dont need to be in the next GT because they wont make the game any more fun, I think they would make the game frustrating. Imagine being in the last hour of a 24hour race and you lose your focus and crash. Game Over. Or your engine blows up. Game over. With online, some idiot rear ends you going into a hairpin. Game over. I dont think that would be fun at all.

Id like to see more realistic tire wear. The racing tires in gt3 and gt4 last way too short. Id like to see some super-hard tires last about 30 laps like a real tire would.

Id like the physics to be more realistic.

Id like customizable weather. Atleast four settings of time (Sunrise, Day, Sunset, night) and atleast four settings of weather (Clear, cloudy, rain, fog) and maybe snow for some of the northern tracks. Id also like to see air temerature play a part in tire grip and car performance. Is that too much to ask from a PS3 game? :)

I dissagree heavilly regarding damage, I think it's a huge must for the series, other games like Race drive, GTR, LFS S2 and more include damage and they don't suffer because of it.

PD wants to make accurate damage and real cars are quite fragile. Those other games (like forza) are mostly cosmetic damage so It doesnt hurt gameplay, but If it was realistic, the game could take a hit.

That being said, maybe im wrong, hopefully I am wrong and PD can prove that, but thats how I see it now.

GTR's can be set to very realistic, it's still very fun. The next Race drive promises to be a lot more real than the last, the way I see it, it just promotes safer racing, ofcourse, the AI would have to be sorted, it could be very frustrating to have damage if your doing fine but the AI cars keep smacking into you, so for me it's sort the AI, then include damage ect. As for longer races, the inclusion of damage would surely increase the specialness of the race, you'd spend a lot more time thinking of stratergies on the fly. Remember a race car can take bumps and knocks and carry on occasionally needing bodywork taping down, you have to really smack something to make the car a dnf, broken suspension, brake failures, damaged transmission ect can all be fixed in the pit's, as long as it's not half arsed it'd be great, but then I love as realistic an experience as possible not everyone does, some people only like to think they do but then complian when they play a proper racing sim cos they can't do it.

Its not hard to damage a race car in real life. A poor shift can destroy a clutch, its not hard to damage a suspension, especially in a F1 car. Even if you dont DNF because of damage, a long pit stop can destroy a 50-60 lap race. Minimal body damage can slow you down dramatically.

Im not really worried about damage in a single player game, its online where it could become messy.

Also, Imagine taking your brand new Tuscan to a race only to scratch up the doors or destroy the back when you get rear ended by a late braking AI. :indiff:

Ill take your word for it though. I hope damage makes GT5 just as fun.

It's not hard to damage your car, but it's not hard to go a whole race without doing it either as long as your capable of keeping the car under control. If you coupled it in with a realistic flag system ie someone rears you they get flagged ect it will cut out all the unnameables you meet online. Like I said, as long as it's not half arsed and the AI is sorted, I think it'd be superb. Thats not to say everyone would, but I think it would.
