I found some other threads that discuss at length the strange weather patterns when suspending weather variable endurance races, however mine came when starting the Suzuka endurance.

I decided to go with the PD GT-40 Ford, and when I came to the main warm up screen, the weather showed rain and 100% wet conditions. Fine. I went to my car options and selected full wet tires to properly prepare for the race. When I went back to the warm up screen it still showed 100% wet and rain. However when I actually started the race, the weather magically showed sun. OK...I thought maybe the sun came out and the track was still drenched, but it was dry as a bone! So there I am with full wet tires getting killed on the first lap by the AI. Arrrgh.

After making it around, I went into the pits and changed to dry tires. I'm 70 laps into the race basically making up time. I initially lost a minute and a half with this issue, and I'm finally back on track posting realistic times against the AI. What happened? Why would the preview show rain only to start in sun and dry?

Confused. Once I restart this (probably tomorrow) it'll be interesting to see what kind of weather will show up.

Does anyone that's raced this event have any input on what happened?

Thank you!

Haven't raced it in A Spec, but this has been said many times: the track that you see is irrelevant until the grid is completely loaded. This also occurs online when the track is set to time and/or weather change.

If you get onto the grid and the weather is not what you expected you can press O before the start and then select the tyre you need before restarting with X.

Before I knew that I ran the first lap of a race with the Mazda 787B on wets on a dry Suzuka. The tyres were well shot as I entered the pits at the end of the first lap.
