The Morgan Plus 8 is credited as being the car that saved Morgan Motor Company back in 1968, with the car still being produced today, and in 1994 the car was homologated for GT2, called the Plus 8 GTR.
Originally it only raced in the UK but in 1997 it raced in the worlds premier sports car racing series, the FIA GT Championship. Only one Morgan was entered in the FIA GT and was driven by Charles Morgan, then managing director of Morgan, and first raced that year at Silverstone.
It's FIA GT efforts were unsuccessful, with a 33rd place finish at Silverstone and DNF's at every other event it entered. The car never raced again after that, and the next time Morgan would enter the FIA GT would be in 2003 when an NGT Aero 8 ran in the FIA GT Championship and Spa 24H.
