The German importer of the Mosler MT900 has developed a special GTR version with a 7.0-liter LS7 engine producing 600 bhp. The MT900 GTR is a road-going version of the MT900 R built in England that captured championships in the British and Spanish GT Championships (2003 and 2004) and the FIA GT2 class (2005). The MT900 R has also competed in the 24 Hours of Daytona. Mosler Deutschland has joined with Mosler Automotive in England to produce the GTR, with the goal of producing the fastest production car for the track using high quality lightweight components and a reliable V8 engine. Other manufacturers have helped to develop the car including BBS, Dunlop, Recaro, Alpine, and others. The LS7 V8 engine, normally found in the Corvette Z06, has been upgraded to 600 bhp. Special attention has been made to government regulations, making sure that the car complies with laws in both Europe and the United States. The car has successfully completed crash tests for the front and side as well as roll tests.

Standard equipment on the MT900 GTR includes a front splitter, carbon fiber rear spoiler, venturi channel and rear diffuser, all of which provide enough downforce for the car to be driven upside down above 124 mph. The chassis and cockpit are made from carbon fiber in an aluminum honeycomb structure and have a combined weight of less than 200 pounds. Rear and front sub-frames are made of high-strength chrome-moly steel which promotes rigidity for the assembled axle, motor, and gearbox. A highly developed suspension uses chrome-moly double wishbones with adjustable front and rear anti-roll bars.

Handling

KW Automotive supply a fully adjustable racing suspension system, which has been developed to maximize the handling characteristics of the MT900 GTR on the legendary Nurburgring north circuit and giving a comfortable ride for street use. For the best braking characteristics and to save unsprung weight, the MT900 GTR can be fitted with six piston ceramic racing brakes from Movit. Dunlop is supplying special sport tires, which fit on custom-made aluminum wheels made by Work Racing. Ultra light magnesium racing wheels for minimizing unsprung weight are available from BBS.

Drivetrain

The MT900 GTR is powered by the newest generation 7.0-liter LS7 Z06 engine. Three power ratings are offered up to 600 bhp. A 6-speed manual gearbox is supplied by the German gearbox specialist Getrag in two different torque variations. For the more ambitious customer a sequential gearbox can be ordered from Hewland, the English race-gearbox specialist. For race aces, Hewland also offers ultra lightweight, high strength magnesium gearbox housings.

Interior

The MT900 GTR is equipped with electric windows, remote central locking, and a high quality efficient air conditioning system. Top quality audio is supplied by Alpine with ultra light carbon fiber speakers and digital amplifier which omit the need to compromise the light weight concept. The carbon fiber cockpit can be furbished in the finest hand-picked leather or alcantara to suit customer tastes. Race seats are individually chosen to suit customers and are supplied by Recaro. The design of the MT900 GTR instrumentation includes two analogue instruments and a multifunctional digital display. In the trunk there is an easily accessible luggage compartment with a made-to-measure set to utilize space.

God, that's a beaut. And no worries about weight either as I read, the owner of Mosler hates weight with a passion.👍

Yay, score one for Mosler!

...I'm begining to wonder how much faster it is than the S7 now that power outputs are getting closer, given of course that the MT900 is indeed a much lighter car...

Yeah but a very cool looking kit car, I like Moslers quite a lot, I think it was Autocar had a test of one a while back, it was an incredibly quick car though it's far more suited to a track than the road.

~1000kg of downforce at 125mph is very impressive for a road car. I had a look a while ago to try and find how much downforce the Saleen S7 produced but couldn't find any figures.

Even with the old LS6 powerplant and being down 300 BHP to the S7, the Mosler was able to keep pace because of it's lightweight and better aerodynamics.

I just can't imagine what an LS7 will do to the car...

Mosler is one of America's most underrated and understated sports car companies in America. Come on now. Who DOESN'T think these Moslers (especially the recent ones) are some of the sexiest cars on the planet? This Florida-based group makes some of the most wicked machines bearing the blood of the stars and stripes. The "Best Car Ever" deal is arguable, but it does look pretty much like it can take on any European supercar. It may even be a nice matchup for the Dodge Vipers as well as (well, at least an underdog) the Saleen S7 series. I don't have a serious turn-off for this car. But if I did, I'd probably have to note the black rear of the car around the taillights. I would immediately change the white base color to something like crimson or a deep and rich blue color. I've seen this car used in series like British GT and FIA GT. Mosler also has some experience in most other forms of sportscar racing including Super GT (formerly the JGTC) and even some starts at the ill-fated Bathurst 24 Hour race.

I don't think it looks like a kit car (would make a hell of a kit car, you have to agree!). It's a nicely-designed mid-engine supercar that isn't the Saleen S7. With the sort of Corvette motors in them, you could say that these are more like super-Vettes. They are cleverly designed and quite fun to take for a ride. At least, in terms of my GTR and ToCA Race Driver 3 experiences. Those motors in the Moslers is sweet music, especially for fans of American cars.

Out of 100% approval, I'd be a dope to not give this car some love. This car's getting 100% approval from me.

I wouldn't call them anything closest to the sexiest cars on the planet. It is totally under-designed. Just take a look at how unoriginal everything is. The shape is 100% stock supercar wedge, then the necessities were slapped on in the appropriate places, like the bland headlights (which aren't that fresh) and the rather boring sides. The design just tells me that the car has very little soul. And lines? What lines?

And there isn't really and excuse with this either, especially with the huge surplus of transportation designers graduating in the USA these days. Just pick up two or three bright and eagre young minds fresh out of design scool to design a 600hp American supercar and you can't get a boring design.

And if you want to directly compare it to a similar European car, pick yourself out an Ultima, and I think we'd have a good duel.

It's great looking but it's not sexy in the way that I consider an Aston Martin to be sexy. As for this v an Ultima, now that would make for a good performance test.

It's a practical, but certainly not provocative design.
