Erm... Loud, in your first post, I get the lovely red "x" treatment...

That's because the image is coming directly from his computer, which more than likely is turned off for his trip to St. Louis. ;)

Loud- You might want to do something with that blank space beneath your picture (maybe put your name, or LM for President, or something)... it looks mighty odd against gray posts. ;)

You should see a graphic that says "Live WebCam" immediately below his webcam shot. :odd:
 
I see it now. ;) At the time that I posted it though, it was just a blank white space.

[edit]: BTW, quick question: How often will that picture refresh? Does it just refresh every time I click on a thread with LM in it, or does he have to "refresh" it by attaching new pics every time, or what?

I am using ChillCam 2.3.4 to grab images from my Intel CS430 webcam.

Chillcam is setup to store an image locally on my hard drive every 15 seconds. It saves the file to a directory that is served to the web by the free version of NuSphere, an Apache web server package compiled for Windows.

So basically you can refresh any page with that image on it every 15 seconds or so and get a new image.

Like I told Jordan, it's a fun idea but I don't know how long I'll like having everyone at GTPlanet looking at me (:

You realise it would be a hop skip and a jump (ie easy) to add a little code that would get the stuff to check if it was a valid JPG.

Has anyone tried uploading a flash animation as their avatar? That might work as well, because if you put a flash animation under as your avatar, then have it reference an image outside the site, then it will refresh like you want it too.
 
The bulletin board software doesn't allow flash movies. It only does jpgs and gifs. It might do PNG, but since Internet Explorer has only a pathetic PNG parser, it would be rather useless. Though I really do like PNG (:

Wow, it's really strange seeing my own room empty. I need to setup another webcam at work so you guys can see my cave of an office. And it won't be so weird for me to be posting while my chair is empty (: "He's a GHOST!"
