I'm new here, and recently figured out that you can drift in GT3. A big surprise for me since I tried before and didn't seem to work. Guess I didn't try hard enough. Anyways I play tons of rally games since I love sliding a car around. So given my background what would be the most effective(and the easiest) method of initiating a drift?

I guess I should've been more specific. I want to know the most effective method of initiating a drift on TARMAC. I know how to do it on a rally course since I play tons of it, just want to know the differences between tarmac and dirt.

the dif. between asphalt and dirt are one has more grip... thats it... just use sims and you'll be fine, and don't use subaru's cause the have a nasty case of understeer...

a great car to start out w/ is the 180sx... stock HP or silvia 1800cc with about 200-210hp...just buy a semi-racing suspenison to tighten it up abit but don't change the settings... and all the drivetrain mods and what ever LSD suites you best... i use the 1.5 Dif...

Thanks a bunch =) I just might. I have to start experimenting first though. I actually sold GT3 *gasp* I know I know...I don't know what I was thinking. And now I learn you can do all these crazy stuff so yeah...gonna mess around w/ Prologue w/ my wheel and get another copy of GT3 to drift around w/. Yahoo!

I recommend Cote d'Azur. It's basically a rally course on asphalt. Deep Forest and Trial Mountain II are also very rallyish with all the bumps and blind corners... then again, if you're not into rallying for the excrutiatingly high stress, maybe you're looking for a nice relaxing course like Apricot Hill =)

As for initiating the drift, check my webpage in my signature and I have a guide on drifting RWD cars. It has an explanation of the various methods for initiating a drift. Pick one, learn it, repeat. =) RWD and AWD drifting are very different but you should be able to get a better idea of how it's done even if you're using AWD. The rally-to-drift transition is not hard, so I think you'll catch on fast. Rhys Millen is living proof of that!

The main thing you need to learn about is weight distrabution. Also how to set your car up right. Or if you want to be like me and teach yourself =P.
