I'm glad that they are actually being raced and aren't being shut away. They were after all, designed to be race cars, not little automotive art pieces for some rich guy to buy and put in his garage because it looks nice.

Cars of this nature are strongly valued on their documentation: who did what type of restoration/repair work on the car, what races was it entered, who raced it and where it placed. If the owner takes it out on the track and has a mishap, that accident doesn't necessarily hurt the value of his multi-million dollar car - it's just another point in the car's continued racing timeline. As long as the repairs are done by respected restorer/specialist, current-day accidents just add to the car's colourful history in a positive way.
