Most "fun" 90's Japanese car? (premium)

Some background to the question, forgive me if I ramble a bit. :)

I have to admit, I am not really a fan of Japanese cars in general, so I don't really have much of a preference when it comes to many of these races.

So far though, I really have to say, I have been surprised quite a bit. (not enough to make me a fan, just in a pleasant way lol) For instance, the Isuzu 4200r Concept was cool inside, and quite nice to drive. The one that probably surprised me the most though was the Daihatsu OFC-1 Concept - that is a really nice looking interior and a fun little drive. For that matter, I also am not a fan of the FF drivetrain, yet the OFC, Focus ST, and new Mini have been quite enjoyable (I've actually put the Focus and OFC in my favorites for Arcade use when people come over).

The only reason I've been able to experience these surprises is because I have to use these cars in various events that I might otherwise skip (if it wasn't part of finishing the game and building cash/xp for getting new cars and unlocking more stuff). And I'm doing it to 'get them out of the way', as it were, before getting to the events that generally interest me more (FR, Supercar, modern Muscle, Lambo, Ferrari, etc).

I've just completed the Miata races, something I hated to have to buy and do, but, again, honestly, the newest Miata for sale in the new car dealer was actually a heck of a lot of fun on Tsukuba. Even with Comfort Softs it ran well, very controllable and quite enjoyable. I could even hear Richard Hammond in my head talking about how when the Mazda engineers developed that generation, they specifically did not want it to have too much grip.

So anyway.... now I have the 90's Japanese car series to do. I have a beater 180 (200SX) for my B-Spec drivers, I'll just hop that up as needed. But I use Premium cars for myself wherever possible, even if it's not a car I might ordinarily go for (I even started hot rodding a classic Fiat 500 - for the Italian race, it really needs more power, but I can tell that thing is gonna be fun/cool too lol).

I know GTRs are kick ass cars. There is 1 S13 that's a Premium. As well as some NSX's, RX-7s and others.

What would you guys recommend? Not just to win the races, that's easy, but which ones have the coolest interiors that are genuinely nice places to be (or at least nicer than the other choices), and which ones will be the most enjoyable to drive and make for the most interesting races?

I don't currently have a wheel, but I do pretty well with the analog sticks. However, a major handful might not be the best idea (but I'd like to hear the suggestion even if it is, might be an interesting challenge). Also, a mega-beast might be fun in a way, but unless it just has a kick ass interior and is a great drive, it might be kinda dull otherwise (and if I was going for that, I'd just get a GTR and hot rod it and call it a day). [that said, the Cobra is one of my favorite cars, and one of the things I like about it is that it's terrifying! :D (with driver aids turned off, which I do for cars that didn't actually have them) ]

The Honda NSX would be my car of choice ... great looks and handling! 👍
 
Get an NSX, you definitely won't be disappointed. NSX's are universally fantastic to drive.
 
I wish the MR2 G-Limited '97 was a premium car. It was a car that in the real world wasn't designed for flat out speed but more like the MX-5 (Miata) to be a drivers car that was just fun to drive. The way they handle in the corners makes them feel like a big go kart. I prefer the NA to the turbo because it makes you drive in a manner to conserve speed in the corners.
 
Personally, the R32 Skyline GT-R.
 
The old MX5s with the pop up lights are epic. A group of us online all have them fully tuned without turbos and the racing we have in them is nothing short of amazing! The battles are so close, they love being thrown into corners. By far my favourite :)
 
I had more fun in the standards, but for premium, get a Miata.
 
FC's, NSX, Miata, Integra/Civic Type R. all a lot of fun

I ended up picking the later RX-7, the FD or whatever it was. I liked the looks better than the older one. I suspect the S-13 or miata might have been more fun maybe, but, the RX-7 is more my style overall.

Had a good fight on Tsukuba, nearly got a 2nd place, but eeked it out at the end by .485s. Then the Cape Ring race, at first, I tried to run it like a typical race, but found that the ring is an ace in the hole, and I was tired of being forced to play bumper cars by the damned AI which avoids itself but not me. So I restarted, pulled over, waited for the whole field to pass at the very start, then proceeded to just drive, trying to focus on driving well and not the race. I passed half the field on the ring the first time through, and the rest on the second. In the end, I was almsot 8 seconds ahead when I crossed the line. It was a good enough time that I saved the replay, something I've only done 1 other time since I've started the game. :)
