Has anyone played the demo of this ?

This is the first motorbike game I've tried so I have no idea if this is what they are like, or whether you should expect much better.

Even from my very limited experience of motorbikes in real life it didn't seem that realistic to me. One review had the comment that the demo felt more like riding a jetski (ie very slushy handling) than a motorbike, and that was pretty much my impression.

Or will the subtileties of the handling reveal themselves if I just give it more time ?

As an experienced biker myself, I can see some things shining through. I found Moto GP awkward at first because I played it like GT or something, a car game. Once I put my biker helmet on (no not literally!) I began to get the hang of it and started doing much better. Smoothness is very important for speed, when you're riding at high speed you can't toss the bike about easily in real life and that is present in Moto GP. It's not a super sim though, of course the visceral feeling of a true motorbike is a world away, but it may simply be down to the fact you're using a controller which takes alot of it away. Your body effects a bike alot, and it feels much more natural when you're on a bike doing both brakes individually, doing it all on your hands isn't easy because you're doing EVERYTHING. The physics I'm not so sure, I do feel it's not the perfect sim physics wise but there's little alternative around except SBK.

Thanks Dragonistic. I'd noticed that smoothness seems even more important than in a driving sim, and you're right, you certainly can't toss the bike around. I think coming to grips with that is my main problem.

I'm wondering what is a good time around Mugello in the time trial mode. So far my best is1:42 and I know that sucks. I think I need to be aiming for at least the mid 1:30s

SBK 09 did a better job of weight transfer and made controlling the bike a little more complex than motogp 09/10. I found the physics model pretty good and is more sim like than motogp.

However the career mode of motogp to me looks to be the selling point. Being able to self manage your team completely including on and off the track and getting through the feeder series from 125cc through to motogp looks like fun. Plus it has been promised that the game will be updated later this year to 2010 riders and bikes etc.

Trying to figure out whether or not to buy this. I've read that the demo was released on PSN but i've looked through the PS Store and I can't see it anywhere? Was it only available for download for about a week or something? I'm not going to buy it before i've tried the demo. Anyone else know anything about it?

Same here, keep the thread open.

I was looking in other (car) racing games to extend the tracks/cars I was running, mainly out of curiosity not boredom.

Interested in but not to certain about moto sims, indeed due to the influence of the leg work, seems a bit like a horse riding sim, the contact with the machine/placement of the body is so important in motorcycle control, do not see a way currently to get this correctly simulated.

Anyone going for something like this?

I have tried both versions, so afterwards, I prefer the 360 version. The PS3 version does not have anti-aliasing and it loads the riders longer than the 360 version. My complaint on the MotoGP 09/10 demo is arcade mode. The time limit system is the problem; you have to slipstream, get perfect lines, clean sections and clean laps to extend the time. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but you have to get used to them more. I believe this is an arcade based MotoGP, so the casual fans will get the hands of this one. What I like about this recent MotoGP is the framerate. MotoGP 08 is 30fps while MotoGP 09/10 is 60fps. I don't know if I can buy this or not, but I'll wait if it's 30 dollars or less.

Do you know how I can get my hands on the PS3 demo of it? I read they put out a demo early March but I can't see it anywhere in the PS Store?

Wierdly I can't find it either now, I do have it on my drive, or did I should say. It seems to have disapeared.

They probably took it down because it was so bad. Even if they marketed it as an unrealistic demo would have been a letdown, but they are touting it as realistic. 👎
I'll wait for SBK-X on PC. (My PS3 backlog is already too deep)

I thought it was ok. Just ok though. Good sense of speed in first person view on the bike, pretty decent graphics... I deleted the demo after a night though.

I love racing games, and had only ever owned one bike game - Tourist Trophy on PS2. Thought it was ok, but kept falling off and thought it was hard to judge the cornering. That's bike games for you i suppose. Really wanted a new bike racing game so MotoGP 09/10 was the one i went for. I hadnt read anything about it but had played a demo of MotoGP 08 and thought it was ok. I'll be honest - initially i was a bit dissappointed and almost took it back, but i persevered, and after getting used to the handling i am now loving it. It's arcadey, sure, but damn it's addictive, and thrilling when you time the corners right. Silky smooth, detailed graphics, a comprehensive career mode, and the promise of free DLC later on. I was tempted to hold back for SBK X, but im glad i didnt. Saying that, i'll probably get SBK X as well - the ideal 'sim' companion to my arcadey MotoGP. Bottom line: MotoGP 09/10 is good.

Yes, I did download and tried to play it but it was shockingly bad IMO and can only wish the full game is far better ( but I won't be buying it ).

I've got SBK 09 ( mainly for being more sim than MotoGP games ) as well ( bought it because I can't play TT on my PS3 ) and although it doesn't come near TT in driving physics or content IMO, graphically it looks good and when you can stomach the extremely long loading times it provides plenty of fun although, at least for me, for quite a short time.

This may not help. But here it is. A link to my condensed review of Motogp 07. http://racerpaulsplace.myfastforum.org/forum9.php Post 10/15/10.

I have a 360. Which is prompting my decision factor of which to purchase Motogp 9/10 or SBK X WC out sometime after 10/26/10. Both got similar reviews.
RacerPaul's SBK review. http://racerpaulsplace.myfastforum.org/about19.html

Moto has more tracks but their FP view is absolutely terrible IMO. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DTl5MmdXZY

I am used to the screen tilt from TT. SBK's screen is much more like TT's. Where are my hands! :scared: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75pNfQP2_5Y

I am currently checking out the forums for race leagues, which is critical to me. No fun winning against the AI if I can get thrashed by real humans either online or in a quasi-online situation like we have now with GT4.

Tourist Trophy has held up extremely well 5 years later. If you guys still race come join us. http://racerpaulsplace.myfastforum.org/forum5.php
