Yesterday, a very sad thing happened infront of my house. I was gone playing golf, but from what my mother told me, there was a large bang noise, the motorcycle broke into peices as it slide on the ground and the rider was laying infront of the grass. From what I know, he was un-concious, and was taken to hospital. This was a cruiser, not a sportbike. So high speeds are not a factor.

Hopefully, he did not die. I'm pretty sure he lived around here too. :(

I've ridden a bike on the street enough to know it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when you're going to have a big accident, like Vat_man's signature says. Heck, even on dirt bikes, which I used to ride a lot, I've knocked my front teeth out and dislocated my shoulder.

We saw a bike accident aftermath in California. It must have been low-speed also, but the big biker guy was howling in pain as they got him on the stretcher. I hope they're both OK in the long run.

I used to dirt-bike, before the bikes got stolen, practically my whole family is against buying a motorcycle now, other than me and my dad because we are like huge fans of motorcycles to. 👎

This is something I try not to think about. All I can do, is do my best at paying attention, and not push it to much.

Magic, when I saw this thread and your name was under it, I thought you crashed that nice bike you have.

SHHHHHH! Don't say anything like that!

I just made an addition to my "nice" collection this past weekend, but I will make that accounment properly with pictures when I have them. ;)

damnit Sunny, way to discourage me from buying a bike next year :grumpy:
(I'm thinking of a used Suzuki Katana 650 or 750 depending on my budget)

I'd encourage you to get a bike, that's what I'm planning on doing once I'm 17/18.

Dude, you have an R6, that thing can fly like hell! Just ride safe, and there's nothing to worry about.

Oh and always wear gloves. :)

Another sad thing is that today's car drivers, don't see anything in the rear mirror and the switch lanes, which ends up killing the motorycycle that they didn't see, from what there saying in the newspapers, if you don't see anything in the lane, there's a motorcycle there. So people need to take care of when they switch lanes.

on this topic, do you guys have any suggestions for a first bike? I'll probably have a $6000 (canadian) budget when I get around to purchasing it

$6000 that's a good share of money in today's market, I can sell you my dad's 81' 1100 for $1800. Runs like new. 👍

For 6000, you can pretty much get any late model used bike you want. My R6 cost me 5000. I would look around, call some people, take trips and really look at them. Your golden with 6000.
If I can find a used 2000 Ducati for my friend for 3300, I know you can get a good bike for 6000.

Oh, I know it can fly, I beat my personal best two Sundays ago... 151mph. Plus I got it on Video Tape. Damn does my bike sound good when I open her up.
