I've brought the subject up in the Car wishlists, but I really want to explore this subject further. see what other people think of it.

I truly believe that cars from Movies and television should be part of Gran Turismo. In fact, I've wanted them to have the General Lee since when Gran Truismo 2 came out. I was just a little kid then.

I'm pretty sure that getting the licenses for such cars would be easier than getting licensing from Ferrari. at least, a little easier. I'd like to see The General, Rosco's Cruiser, the "Starsky and Hutch" Gran Torino, and the Bullitt 'Stang, from Warner Bros, to name a few.

The movie houses should be treated as the Manufacturers in this case. also, i think we could change some of the driving missions to simulate, say, the "Bullitt" Chase scene on Seattle Circuit, or part of the race from "Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo" on the Cote 'd Azur.

Any other thoughts? suggestions? Cars?

KITT, A-Team van, Batmobile, Optimus Prime, etc etc etc...

It would be cool to see various movie cars in the game, but I fear it would never happen. The closest we'll ever get to the General Lee will just be an orange Charger.
As for the Bullitt and Herbie scenes, they don't fit in with the GT ethos, and would be more suited for a game like Stuntman.

The "Route 66" Vette,
We already have KITT...My bad, that's just B-Spec Barnie.
Magnum's 308 GTS would be nice.
The 550 Maranello from Bad boys II.
The Challenger from "Vanishing point"
The "Screaming Chicken" T/A from Smokey and the Bandit.
The Ambulance from "Mother, Juggs & Speed"
just to name a few.

you haft to think about it from polyphonys standpoint. there are many many movie cars out there that ppl would want in the game thats money they would haft to pay out and it wouldnt be cheap. They can just put a paint editor in the game and you can make your own. Saves them money and you get what you want. Movies really dont need to be in the GT series because they are watered down cars that look good nothing more. Thats the opposite of what the GT series is all about. Id rather the money go to many other things.

I'm pretty sure some one posted that in the pictorial wishlist.
yes its on my the v3.0 list as well along with the Wraith car under their real names
Unique Performance Shelby Mustang GT500E Super Snake
Dodge M4S Interceptor Turbo

1968 Dodge Charger - BLADE
1974 Dodge Monaco - The Blues Brothers
Porsche 917 - LE MANS

&

All the cars from DEATHRACE 2000

Der Alta

You sir are a genius. I forgot all about that film, I love it. I wouldn't mind finding it as a cheap dvd. The car is a Dodge M4S i think, and the view from the front is beautiful!

Great list! I thought I was probably the only person here who had ever seen Vanishing Point. Guess I was wrong.

I would like to add to that list.

Ferrari 365GTB/4 from Miami Vice
Ferrari 308GTS from National Lampoons Christmas vacation
Ferrari 355GTS from Bulletproof
The Minis from the update Italian Job

You know, with Herbie, there could be an interesting B-spec situation...

with no driver....

I like the idea of some movie cars, but not others. Movies that used actual, unmodified cars would be easy to do, since you don't have to get a license from the studio. Some have already been mentioned, but I'll repeat for sake of illustration:

The Dodge Monacos from Blues Brothers (CPD would probably even allow the color scheme to be used)
The Bandit T/A - it was a standard graphics package, only need to get Pontiac's approval
All the LeMans cars were real anyway, they filmed that movie by putting a camera car IN THE RACE.
The Bullit cars would be easy, just have the right Mustang & Charger and let people pick the color. What would be sweet, though, is if you could have the camera car from Bullit - if I remember correctly it was pretty much a tube frame with a mid-mounted 427 Chevy.
Same for the Vanishing Point Challenger, though from that movie, I'd really rahter have the redneck XKE and the Cushman scooter ;)
The Plymouth from Christine.
Mercedes Benz 6.9 from Ronin.
I wish we could have the cars from American Graffiti, but rods & customs don't really seem to fit in GT.

I wouldnt mind seeing some 007 Aston's or any (I wish) of the Initial D cars... Sorry, I'm a fanboi...

I don't mind seeing any of the Initial-D cars...that have unique paintjobs, like Ryosuke's FC, Takumi's Trueno, or Keisuke's FD (which also has unique bodywork). otherwise, they're just the same cars you can get in-game.

what about the fast and furious series cars

I think that, sans Nitrous, and with stage three weight reduction (bye bye, stereo!) they'd be great cars to have. Unfortunately, most people around here would cut your throat for even suggesting that.

Because, believe it or not, they are fast cars. just flashy, too.
