need help here :indiff:

trying to put a movie onto a dvd,the orginal file is 820mb avi format but when using nero visionexpress2 it jumps to over 5gb :scared: is there any way of fitting it onto a dvd(4.7gb) without losing quality to play on a dvd player(not saving it as a data file)

Assuming we're not talking about a downloaded movie, here, which we'd not be allowed to discuss, 820 MB must be divx format, right? Sound like a little over 2 1/2 hours? More? You're not going to be able to anything but reduce the quality settings a bit. It won't take much, probably not noticable, but I don't know in visionexpress where you'd do that.

One of my burners (years ago) came with Pinnacle's InstantCopy, which can compress to a target size. If I have a 6 GB MPEG video, I can run it through Instant Copy with a 4.5 or 4.7 GB target size, and it takes a while but makes it fit. More reduction means greater quality loss, though.

Easiest would be to go dual layer. DL burners aren't very much any more, although the media is still rather pricey. . . . I've seen disc packages under 3 bucks a disc. In stores. Haven't even looked on line.
