Moving folder's.

I know this will sound like a stupid question but how do you move icons on the desktop to a different place on the desktop?

I assume you've tried drag and drop but to no avail. Try right clicking anywhere on the desktop and select a menu (properties?) where you can find the option to turn off the icon locking.
