Mowing

I'm considering putting an add in the local newsletter advertising myself as a mower. The only problem is that I'm not sure how much to charge. Should it be like a flat rate per lawn, or should I do per hour? I'm sure a few of you guys have experience with this kind of stuff.

A regualar town sized yard is an easy $25. If you went by hourly charge I think $15 and hour would be good. Those prices are still cheaper than what landscaping and mowing companys cost.

Just make sure you have your own equipment and the ability to pay for fuel. Aside from that I'd either charge per hour or per acre. I would actually find out rates for lawn-care before deciding how much to charge (the big companies charge big bucks; you should be set with selling your services for half of what they offer). Maintanence is the only other thing I can think of that would be a problem. Good luck with it. ;)👍

We had a mower come to our house, but we got rid of him because he kept peeing on the side of the house. We paid him what he asked $80.00 a month fora mow & edge. We have a big front yard, though.

For a regular house, 40 to 50 dollars a month for just a front yard mow & edge seems reasonable.

Alright, I think I'm going to make it a flat rate of $30 per time as the neighborhood I live in was built when people wanted a big front and back yard. If I don't get any offers then I'll just lower the price.

Yeah, and an old one, at that. I'm also considering starting off at $20 just to see if people actually want their lawn mowed for them, and then bump the price up as I get more jobs.

its not one of them 100 pound wheel and blade with a handle mowers is it?
how big is your town anyways? if it is like 2000 ish, just walk around town and go to the old people's houses(and believe me, you dont want old people knowing your phone number, not cool(they will call you for any problem they have just because they have a phone number))
