Mp3+Cd ripping and Quicktime Alternative?

Does anyone know where I could download a tool that'll allow me to record just certain parts of Mp3's and Cd's. And also is there another player that can plays .mov files, Quicktime is very unreliable, sometimes sound goes out or completely just doesn't play.

As far as the mp3/cd thing goes, i don't know. Try Acid Pro or something...

You could just rip the songs as uncompressed .wav's, cut out the parts you want using a wave editor such as Nero Wave Editor, save the new one as .wav still and then encode it to mp3.
